The Wisconsin native tells reporter Stephanie Bauer that he drove by the Avery compound the night Halbach was killed, and did not see her car.
He said :
"We drove right through [where] that car was supposed to be… It wasn't there that night of the 31st. We were rabbit hunting."
Viewers of the Netflix docuseries are well aware that Halbach's vehicle was found on Steven's property the night of her murder.
Earl goes on to contradict the prosecution's claims of how Steven killed Teresa.
"If somebody's gonna slice somebody's throat, you know, there's gonna be blood – something… And they say they cleaned up in the garage, but there's all dust and everything all over everything. How do you clean up and then put the dust back?"
As we reported in January, the convicted criminal accused Earl and his other brother Charles Avery of possibly committing the crime based on their history of sexual abuse towards women.
Steven's younger brother explains why he made the allegation:
"He told me that his lawyers told him to say that and he told me that he was frustrated that we wouldn't talk to him or go up to see him."
