If he liked it, then he shoulda thrown more cash at it!
Shortly after the initial news broke out, the American Sniper star put an end to the excitement by writing off the project as "just a rumor."
But it looks like there may have been more to the story, as new reports are saying that Queen Bey wanted too much money for the role!
According to Page Six, Warner Bros. was negotiating with Cooper to helm and star in the remake of the 1950s musical, and the Formation singer was lined up to play the lead — a young ingenue who is helped by an aging icon to achieve her dreams of stardom.
But the project was allegedly aborted after Bey made the studio an offer they had to refuse. An inside source said:
"Beyoncé wanted too much money, and Warner Bros. balked at her price. The production budget was also said to be an issue with the studio, so the project has fallen apart."
Though the music icon may no longer be involved, another source said the Joy actor is still attached to the project, adding:
"Bradley has started reading scripts for his next acting project. But the Star Is Born project remains in development and Bradley is still involved."
A third source added that while project is being delayed, Bradley will develop it — eventually:
"This project is something Bradley has been involved with for a long time. It has gone on the back burner, but he's still working on it, among other projects."
Do you think we'll be seeing A Star Is Born remake anytime soon?
