A couple weeks ago, there was a possible breakthrough in the decades old murder case of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman when the LAPD came into possession of a knife that was reported to be once buried and found on O.J. Simpson's former estate.
Due to the case being so high profile, the LAPD held a press conference to address the issue as the world waited on DNA test results to come back to see if there were any new leads.
While there were reports that the former NFL star laughed when he heard the news, and after a few days things didn't look great for finding new evidence, the Serology Unit was still hopeful that there were traces of blood on the weapon that could open the case back up.
Well unfortunately those hopes have come to a screeching halt as TMZ reports that DNA testing did NOT produce any matches. Whomp!
Since the knife was buried for a while and then who knows what kind of conditions it was kept in by the retired cop who kept it for years, apparently the microbes in the soil degraded any potential DNA that could have been on the knife.
Not too surprisingly, there were no samples of hair or anything else found either.
Though the LAPD has not officially announced the results, it's being reported that the investigation is over.
If this weapon really did have something to do with Nicole and Ron's murder, there's a very good chance we may never know. Though we should point out that O.J. was never at risk of being convicted thanks to double jeopardy, it still could have been a big clue.
According to reports out Sunday morning, Angelina Jolie's political ambitions with the United Nations may have caused a rift between her and Brad Pitt, at least based on a source "close to the couple."
TMZ is reporting that Jolie's dream had been to become a top official with the UN -- which makes sense, considering all the charity work and traveling to developing nations that she does -- but that didn't fly at home with Brad.
