Ten years ago, a man named Jack Dorsey changed the Internet forever by setting up the very first Twitter account!
A decade and billions of tweets later, the social media site has become a hub for breaking news, mundane rantings, and personal interactions between fans and the celebrities they adore.
Even though it seems like there are way too many tweets to keep track of (half of which are probably Kanye West's), tracking website Favstar compiled a list of the 10 most retweeted tweets of all time!
applied for xfactor, hope it all wrks out
— Niall Horan (@NiallOfficial) January 17, 2010
Before he was a member of one direction, Niall was just an aspiring singer who applied to be on British singing show the X Factor. The Irish crooner's tweet hoping his audition worked out has retroactively racked up a lot of retweets. And yes, we think it worked out.
Aside from chart-topping boy bands, other people happen to use Twitter, too — like President Obama! On the night he was reelected in 2012, Obama's staff posted a photo of POTUS embracing Michelle Obama, and it became the most retweeted-tweet ever at the time.
5. Harry Styles
All the love as always. H
— Harry Styles. (@Harry_Styles) March 26, 2015
Directioners were at an all-time-low after Zayn Malik departed the group last March. But Harry tried to calm the storm with his catchphrase "all the love," which he often uses to sign off tweets.
3 & 4. Denny Januar Ali
Denny JA: Dengan RT ini, anda ikut memenangkan Jokowi-JK. Pilih pemimpin yg bisa dipercaya (Jokowi) dan pengalaman (JK). #DJoJK

Indonesian political analyst Denny Januar Ali managed to make the list with his political declarations in a pair of tweets. In the first, he backs Indonesian presidential candidate Joko "Jokowi" Widodo. In the second, he calls for an end to discrimination — pictured with a group of adorable kids whose shirts spell out "love."
