It looks like Simon Cowell has a seat to fill on the X Factor.
Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has confirmed she is quitting the popular singing competition series to focus on her music career!
The former Girls Aloud singer told reporters that she broke the news to Simon last week over dinner in El Lay — and her boss completely supported her decision!

Speaking to The Daily Mail, the 32-year-old had only nice things to say about the series and working with the music mogul, but admitted she "missed making music."
"I have had such an amazing experience being a judge on The X Factor. I have learned so much and enjoyed nurturing talent but I've missed making music and am excited to be recording again. I want to thank everybody I have worked with along the way, especially Simon who I love to bits. I hope the show continues to produce stars and I wish them all the best."
As for Cowell, the former American Idol judge hinted that this wouldn't be the last time he and Cheryl worked together, telling reports:
"Cheryl and myself spoke about this. I totally understand her commitment to making more records. She has been amazing on the show and in the near future we will be working on other things together."
In her statement, Cheryl added that she made "many special memories" on the show and "will watch when it comes back on TV this year." Maybe she'll call in to judge the performances for old time's sake! LOLz!
While we're sad to see the songstress depart the long running series, we're happy she's taking the time to focus on creating more music — oh, and probably spend some time with her new flame Liam Payne.
Are YOU sad to see Cheryl leave the X Factor?
