Well apparently there have now been screen tests for the young men in the running — Alden Ehrenreich, Taron Egerton, and Jack Reynor — and a single frontrunner has emerged!
Sources close to the casting process for the top secret film have said that it looks like Ehrenreich is the odds on favorite at the moment after impressing the right people.
Not only did the 26-year-old actor give a scene-stealing performance in this year's Coen Brothers flick Hail, Caesar!, but he's also the lead in Warren Beatty's untitled Howard Hughes project which should be landing in theaters this fall.
The Han Solo prequel already has a release date set for May 25, 2018 and will be directed by The Lego Movie's Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and written by Lawrence Kasdan — the same man who wrote Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and The Force Awakens.
