For the first time, Dax Shepard is publicly opening up about being molested as a kid.
The former Parenthood actor went on air with Sirius XM's The Jason Ellis Show, speaking on his past issues with addiction and how his childhood trauma played a part. In the newly released interview, he revealed he was only seven when an 18-year-old neighbor molested him.

The dad of two continued:
"It was minimal. It wasn't anything like what you recounted. But even at that, it took me 12 years to tell anyone that. And then all that time, I was like, a) it's my fault, as generic as that is, and I'm gay, I must have manifested this because I'm secretly gay. I had all these insane thoughts for 11 years or 12 years."
Dax also shared how he believes it played a part in his past addiction issues. Recounting a statistic his mom, a court-appointed advocate for foster kids, shared with him:
"If you've been molested, you only have a 20 percent chance of not being an addict. And I was like, ‘Hm, interesting,' because in my mind I just like to f*cking have a great time. But when you hear a statistic like that, I'm like, ‘Oh no, I was going to be an addict, period.'"
Kristen Bell's husband has been sober since 2004, but we can only imagine how it felt for him to make those connections between his past trauma and his struggle with drugs and alcohol.
