This might turn a few heads!
For the first time in the 36 year history of Black Entertainment Television, the network commonly referred to as BET, there is going to be a show with a white lead!
The network announced at their upfront program that they added a reality show to their 2016-2017 lineup titled Gary Owen Family that follows comedian Gary Owen as he deals with life, work, and his family.
Even though Gary's wife is black, and his children are interracial, his show marks the first time EVER that the network has had a show with a white lead.
"This is the new face of the American family."
The funnyman went on to joke:
"I feel like Ben Carson at the GOP debate."
Of course this comes only a few months after Stacey Dash famously said she wanted to get rid of BET because it helps to support segregation.
Well regardless of what the motivation behind the decision was, we're happy to see the network break their own mold and start to think outside the box!
What do you think of BET's decision to add Owen's reality show to their lineup?!
