Trisha Paytas and I chatted for nearly an hour! She's such a hot mess and she owns it!
She's also utterly compelling! You must WATCH!
On Thursday, it was revealed that original Beastie Boys member John Berry had passed away. He was 52 years old.
It's said that the founding member died at 7:30 a.m. while in hospice care in Danvers, MA. It was Berry's father John Berry III who confirmed the news to Rolling Stone. Apparently, the musician suffered from frontal lobe dementia — which had gotten much worse in the past few months. How sad!
The guitarist is best known for coming up with the band's iconic name as a teenager while attending the Walden School in New York with bandmate Mike Diamond. By July 1981, the group had added Adam "MCA" Yauch and Kate Schellenbach. Wow!
In fact, the Beastie Boys' first shows took place in Berry's old loft in the Upper West neighborhood in NYC. Unfortunately, Berry left the group along with Miz Schellenbach after the release of their second EP titled Polly Wog Stew. The twosome were eventually replaced by Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz.
John isn't the first member of BB to pass on, as Yauch died back in 2012 following a long battle with cancer. However, earlier that same year, the band became the third rap group to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Although in 2014, out of respect to MCA, Diamond shared that the Beastie Boys would not perform any longer. Our hearts go out to Berry's loved ones during this trying time.
