Lin-Manuel Miranda made history with his ground-breaking musical Hamilton — winning 11 Tony Awards out of a record 16 nominations.
But soon, the mastermind will take his final curtain call in playing the titular character.
On Thursday, the creator and star of the Broadway hit announced he will depart the show on July 9!
The news was confirmed in a press release, where it was also revealed that Miranda's alternate Javier Muñoz will be taking over as Alexander Hamilton starting July 11.

But just because the OG Alexander will be departing the show doesn't mean he'll be ancient history!
When asked after Sunday's Tonys about leaving the musical, Miranda said he had plans to "drop in" on the show to reprise his role sometime down the line, explaining:
"The answer to that is, flash forward to a few years when you are going to be so sick of me playing Hamilton. Because I have written this character that I cannot age out of. I intend to drop in on this thing over and over again. I want to cut to 20 years from now, when you're like ‘Lin, when will you stop playing Hamilton.'"
We couldn't imagine anyone ever saying such a thing!
Though as for now, Miranda has a lot on his plate. Aside from Hamilton performances, the writer is composing music for Disney's Moana, and will star opposite Emily Blunt in Mary Poppins Returns!
