This is so sad — and not a very welcome sight in addition to all of the tough news of the past week.
Mexican-born singer Alejandro 'Jano' Fuentes, a former finalist on his home country's version of The Voice, was shot multiple times in Chicago on Thursday before succumbing to his injuries on Saturday.
He was just 45 years old.

According to police, the man was shot outside Tras Bambalinas School, a performing arts school that he owned in Chicago, as he was celebrating his birthday.
A male suspect approached the victim — who was sitting in a car — and ordered him to get out.
When the victim refused, he was shot multiple times, after which the suspect fled on foot.
Even though Chicago Police did not confirm Fuentes' identity to media outlets, multiple local reports have independently confirmed that the victim in this tragedy is Fuentes.

Miguel Sanchez, one of Fuentes' friends, told the media about Jano:
"He was a very talented guy – one of a kind. That's why it's terrible for us, because he didn't have any enemies, he didn't have a problem with nobody. He was a gentleman."
And Victor Gulley, another friend who had worked with Fuentes professionally as well, said:
"The world doesn't know how big of a loss that this is right now. To have someone of his caliber gone – and I have no idea why."
Ugh. More awful, awful news from the entertainment world. What is going on this month?!
RIP to Mr. Fuentes — and our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones.
