Hollywood lost a promising up-and-comer after Anton Yelchin died in a freak accident over the weekend.
So it's not surprising so many celebs in Tinseltown have commented on the tragic loss of the late Alpha Dog actor. In fact, on Monday, Walter Koenig became the latest member of the Star Trek family to pay tribute to Anton.
As you may recall, Yelchin found blockbuster success by playing Pavel Chekov in the 2009 reboot of the sci-fi franchise. While Koenig, who originated the role for the TV series, only met Anton once he couldn't help but praise the young man's talent.

In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, the 79-year-old shared:
"We spoke on a sound stage for about two hours. His reputation as an artist preceded him, however. I knew I was in the presence of a gifted performer."
Unfortunately, this gifted performer was taken too soon as he was killed after his Jeep was left in neutral, rolled down his steep driveway in Studio City, CA, and fatally pinned him against his brick mailbox. So sad.
In addition to having kind words about Anton, Walter sent his condolences to the Russian native's family. He continued:
"What I learned that day was how bright and sensitive he was. I walked away thinking — this is a good person. My heart goes out to his mother and father. I know what you're going through."
Well said, Walter. Well said.
