Jamie Lynn Spears is taking total ownership of her past!
Just four days before Jamie's TLC documentary When The Lights Go Out is set premiere, the beauty took to People Magazine to discuss getting pregnant at 16-years-old. The momma touched on everything from the moment she found out to what it was like to let down her young fans.
Obviously, J.L.S. did NOT intend to get pregnant at such a young age, especially since she was the star of the hit television show Zoey 101. In fact, the blonde initially had trouble believing the results of a home pregnancy test she took inside a gas station bathroom.
The singer recalled:
"It was scary – I couldn't believe it."
Naturally, the worst part of discovering she was expecting was telling her family:
"My biggest concern was, 'Oh my goodness, I need to tell my mother and father and my family."
Yikes! At least Ms. Spears got through that trying experience — not to mention she came out of it with an adorable little girl named Maddie!
"I was on a Nickelodeon show, so I felt responsible for what these young girls were gonna think looking up to me. I put myself in an adult situation, so I needed to handle it like an adult. My age was never an excuse for me."
Way to hold yourself accountable, girl! Being honest and upfront about your situation was the best thing you could have done!
Now that 2007 is far behind her, Jamie hopes her new show will help her transition from a young girl to an adult:
"Most people aren't introduced to the world as a young child; you don't know what they were doing when they were 11. It's the right time to bridge that gap so people who knew me as a young girl now get to meet me as an artist and an adult for the first time."
Sounds interesting! We're curious to see how this will pan out for the new reality star.
You can catch Jamie's show this Sunday on June 26 at 10 p.m. EST.
