Gold's Gym was in some hot water this week after a series of body shaming ads from the franchise's Egypt location went viral.
In one Facebook post, Gold's Gym Dreamland shared an image of a pear with the caption, "This is no shape for a girl."
Another visual showed a fit woman inside of the silhouette of an obese woman eating a chicken drumstick with the caption, "Challenge yourself."
Wow. Not OK.
After catching wind of the advertisements, Abigail Breslin penned a passionate response slamming the company for "preying on people's insecurities and perpetuating body image issues."

The 20-year-old wrote on Instagram alongside a screenshot of the ad:
"wow honestly disgusted by this @goldsgym you should be ashamed of yourselves. Things like this are the reason 9 year old girls develop eating disorders. Working out should be something you do for yourself, your health and your mind & body, not cuz a corporation declares your body shape isn't what girls should look like. Also I wonder if it's cool with Golds Gyms for men to be pear shaped? Interesting they had to single out females. Good job for preying on people's insecurities and perpetuating body image issues! Good thing I've never signed up for your gym, now I certainly never will. ✌"
"WOW @goldsgym how about CHALLENGE YOURSELF to not be a body shaming, ignorant, mean spirited company?"
After hearing the outcry on social media, Gold's Gym posted a long apology letter apologizing for the cruel ads while distancing themselves from the Dreamland franchise in Egypt:
While we wish the Dreamland division saw the problem here, we're happy with GG's response! Progress!
What's UR take on all this, Perezcious readers?? SOUND OFF in the comments!
