For a network focused on comedy, they sure are welcoming the drama!
As you may have heard, the world of late night TV suffered a sudden loss on Monday when Comedy Central decided to cancel The Nightly Show after just two seasons on the air.
While the news wasn't completely shocking since the Larry Wilmore vehicle is easily the weakest performer in the news satire genre, we were surprised the channel didn't try to save the show somehow before completely giving it the axe.
But we're not alone… Larry himself was just as surprised that the Daily Show spin-off didn't survive to see a Season 3 — and he's blaming the OG series for his own cancellation!
While speaking to Vulture on Tuesday, the comedian admitted that while his ratings weren't necessarily great by any means, that's actually all Trevor Noah's fault, saying:
"I mean, our numbers were great when Jon Stewart was there, so I don't know. I could make the argument that Jon not being our lead-in hurt our numbers. There are a lot of ways you can make the argument."
DAYUM, Larry!! But remember — Don't get bitter, just get better.
With that said, neither show is particularly funny anymore, so they might as well just cancel both while they're at it. Sorry ’bout it…
But in a world with John Oliver and Samantha Bee killing the fake news game, you gotta step that shiz up!
Do U think The Daily Show is really responsible for The Nightly Show's demise??
