Squee! We're SO excited!
On Thursday morning, Katy Perry spoke to 97.1 AMP Radio host — and The PHP: Perez Hilton Podcast cohost — Chris Booker to drop some exciting details about her latest album. Considering the singer hasn't released a record since 2013, this is a big deal!

According to Perry, this album will be more eclectic and risky than her past efforts. If the work is anything like her recent single Rise, we're down for any changes!
Elaborating on what fans can expect this time around, the California native revealed:
"I am right in the thick of it. I am doing a lot of experimenting and taking chances. I'm definitely taking some chances this record. I'm growing as an artist – I'm working with different producers that maybe people wouldn't imagine me to work with, or different co-writers or things like that. I'm not rushing. I can take a little time… I think when music is good, nobody remembers the time it took to make it."
Hmm… maybe the 31-year-old's boyfriend Orlando Bloom inspired her to take more "chances". After peengate, we think it's safe to say the actor is a bit of a risk-taker!
As for the album's theme, Katy explained:
"I'm going for music that connects and relates and inspires… I play with a lot of different themes and stories and sounds and phonics and stuff like that. So I don't think there's anything that I can't try."
Interesting! We wonder if one of the "stories" will address her ongoing feud with Taylor Swift. How could Katy Kat not address the drama after sending those not-so-cryptic tweets following Calvin Harris' take down of the superstar back in July?
Oh and just when will we get to hear this new record? Is it really in just a few weeks?
Unfortunately for fans, the songstress opted for a vague answer instead of an actual release date:
"Let's just say that you won't think of the time when you hear the record."
Way to drum up some high expectations, girl! Hopefully you'll deliver!
So, are YOU looking forward to Katy's next album?
