What a billionaire wants, a billionaire gets.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Tesla CEO Elon Musk doggedly pursued a friendship with Amber Heard after the two crossed paths on the set of Machete Kills in 2013. The strange news comes on the heels of the pair's recent outings in Miami and London.

While the two have maintained their relationship is platonic, the story behind their budding friendship is kinda fishy. Apparently the mogul pursued Johnny Depp's ex for FOUR YEARS before they became official buddies!
In a series of leaked emails, Musk begged Machete Kills director Robert Rodriguez to link the two up:
"If there is a party or event with Amber, I'd be interested in meeting her just out of curiosity. Allegedly, she is a fan of George Orwell and Ayn Rand … most unusual."
Hmm… this is kinda weird! We wonder why Elon didn't approach Ambs himself — that might have been less awkward!
Per the source, Rodriguez did manage to set up a dinner to which Ms. Heard was a no-show. Who knows, maybe Depp (who was her boyfriend at the time) didn't feel comfortable with the meeting!
Despite the let down, Mr. Musk tried once AGAIN to fuel a connection:
"Can you send her a note saying I would like to get together for lunch in LA? Am not angling for a date. I know she's in a long-term relationship, but … Amber just seems like an interesting person to meet."
Well, at least the businessman made it clear he respected the beauty's relationship with J.D.. We imagine it would have been very awkward otherwise!
Following Elon's plea, the duo did hangout a few times… with Johnny in tow. Apparently the two bonded over their mutual interest in the Art of Elysium organization.
As for where Amber and Musk stand today, an insider close to the billionaire contends the two are just friends… "for now".
Ha! What an interesting choice of words!
We'll keep you updated as this "friendship" progresses!
