There's no question this must be excruciatingly difficult on the entire family.

On Wednesday night's episode of the reality competition show, Phelps stopped by and the audience instantly jumped to their feet to cheer and chant "U.S.A."!
Hey, the show does have America in the title, we mean, come on!
While he had him on the stage, Nick Cannon had to ask the most decorated Olympian of all time what it felt like winning his final gold medal, to which Michael responded:
"At that moment was when all the emotions came out. Because I was finally happy with everything I did in my career and I was able to retire how I wanted to."
The 31-year-old's fiancée, Nicole Johnson, and their 3-month-old son, Boomer, watched from the audience, as the swimmer continued:
"But most importantly, I had our first child in the stands, watching the race. He wasn't always awake, but it's a completely different experience being able to look up and see your baby boy up there after a race."
Ch-ch-check out the AH-Mazing moment (below) as Michael gets the love and support he deserves from the AGT crowd!
