He could soon be getting his day in court!

It's been nearly 11 years since Teresa Halbach was murdered, but thanks to the success of Making a Murderer on Netflix, the controversial case is still getting new developments to this day.

Fans of the 10-part docuseries were overjoyed two weeks ago when a judge decided to overturn Brendan Dassey's conviction due to a coerced confession, and now we're hearing good news in regards to Steven Avery as well!

That's because it was reported on Friday that the 52-year-old Wisconsin native has already taken new DNA tests to "conclusively establish his innocence" once and for all… he just needs them to be analyzed!

According to a hand-delivered motion from Steven's lawyer Kathleen Zellner, the improved tests would be "the most comprehensive, thorough, and advanced forensic testing ever requested by a criminal defendant in the State of Wisconsin," saying:

"Considerable progress has been made in forensic DNA methods, procedures and tests, including the development of tests for the specific detection of blood, saliva, semen and urine."

Apparently, Kathleen believes that independently of her client being potentially framed, the science was simply too archaic back in 2007 to accurately prove Steven's innocence.

Plus, once the results do come back from the lab… we're hearing Kathleen and her team are prepared to name the identity of who they think actually killed Teresa!

We think it's safe to say Season Two of Making a Murderer is going to be one for the history books!
