Jim Carrey may have a solid defense in regards to this wrongful death lawsuit!
As we previously reported, the Liar Liar actor was slapped with a lawsuit by his late girlfriend Cathriona White's secret estranged husband Mark Burton, who claims the funny man is to blame for the Irish native's death. It's said White committed suicide by overdosing on "stolen" Ambien, Propranolol, and Percocet which belonged to the A-lister. Not to mention, Jim used the alias Arthur King to obtain his prescriptions.

While some might think it's sketchy to obtain prescription drugs using a fake name, it's actually a common practice for celebrities to use a different moniker in order to protect their privacy. In fact, Carrey's legal team assured TMZ that The Mask star acquired the pills using "routine practices" — oh, and it seems the Canadian-born celeb's doctors and insurers knew about it too.
Despite it being against the law to use false information on prescriptions, it appears the weight of this hiccup lays on the 54-year-old's doctor's shoulders. Supposedly, Burton's lawyers have some "serious questions" regarding "the conduct of Carrey's physician." To make matters worse, Mark and co. are thinking about reporting the Golden Globe winner's doc to the Medical Board of California. Merp!
Nonetheless Michael Avenatti, one of Burton's attorneys, is vehement Jim is legally in the wrong and claims they can support their allegations. Although Carrey is ready to fight Burton in court, we have a feeling they might eventually settle! But who knows…
