As you may have heard, Mark Burton, the estranged husband of Jim Carrey's late girlfriend Cathriona White, amended his lawsuit against the comedic actor claiming Jim gave White STDs — and now the actor's lawyer is firing back!

Over a year ago, the 30-year-old committed suicide by overdosing on Ambien, Propranolol, and Percocet. Unfortunately for Carrey, White's estranged hubby made some changes to his lawsuit on Thursday to include info suggesting there were texts proving Carrey gave his gf Herpes Type I, Herpes Type 2, and Gonorrhea.
While the Truman Show star initially put the original lawsuit on blast, his attorney Martin Singer has since SLAMMED the STD allegations. In a new statement, Singer noted:
"The claim that Mr. Carrey gave Cathriona White an STD is categorically disputed. This is a desperate, bogus claim made by the ‘husband' of the sham marriage."
The funnyman's rep continued to defend his client AND flip the tables on Burton by further attacking their marriage:
"This is an outrageous act by Mr. Burton, who numerous witnesses will confirm engaged in an illegal sham marriage in violation of the Federal law prohibiting marriage fraud to evade immigration laws, after Cathriona White had asked numerous people — including my client — to marry her so she could stay in the country. Ms. White admitted that it was a sham marriage, and numerous witnesses have confirmed that Ms. White even held a phony 'wedding' with another man before Mr. Burton went through with the sham marriage, after which Ms. White and Mr. Burton lived in different states."

Snap, snap! In fact, Martin went on to put the entire lawsuit on blast:
"When Mr. Burton's media-hound lawyer was notified that the lawsuit's baseless claims have no merit, the despicable bogus amended Complaint was filed to continue the shakedown attempt. However, Mr. Burton will not get a penny because we will prove that the claims in the First Amended Complaint are false fabrications.
The conduct of the parties confirms that the allegations will be proven false. Significantly, the alleged text messages referred to were sent in 2013, yet in November of 2014, Ms. White sought out my client and asked him to continue a serious relationship. If he had engaged in the alleged horrible conduct, why would she reach out and request that they continue to stay together? In fact, they were even working out a cohabitation agreement, as they were living together for the most part up until her death."
Mr. Burton wrapped up his verbal smack down by addressing the money situation and stating:
"It is also outrageous that Mr. Burton admitted that Cat White had significant monies in her bank accounts at the time of her death, but he kept it for himself rather than giving it to her true heirs — her mother, sister, brother and step-mother.
My client will not pay money to end this opportunist's transparent shakedown lawsuit, and this malicious case will be dismissed. Mr. Carrey has suffered a great deal in the last year with the suicide of the woman he dearly loved, and it is outrageous that he should be subjected to this predatory lawsuit."

YIKES! This sounds like it could get REALLY ugly!
Of course, Mark wasn't going to let the Hollywood star and his rep have the last word as he responded to the statement saying:
"Mr. Carrey and his handlers need to stop with the lies and deception — enough is enough. Do they really expect people to ignore the text messages and the handwritten letter in Cat's own words?"
Hmmm. When there's so much finger pointing going on, it's hard to tell what ACTUALLY went down, but the truth will come out at some point!
