This is amazing!
On Monday, ABC confirmed the upcoming episode of Modern Family will feature the first openly transgender child actor on television!
While transgender actors have starred in shows like Orange Is The New Black and Nashville, those are adult roles, rather than child ones.
But now, 8-year-old Jackson Millarker will play Lily's transgender friend, Tom, on Wednesday night's installment of the popular sitcom, titled "A Stereotypical Day."

The episode's director, Ryan Case, took to Instagram on Monday to post a precious picture with the young actor, and gushed about working with him in the caption, writing:
"This is Jackson Millarker. He's 8 years old, from Atlanta, and just happens to be transgender. He plays Lily's friend Tom in this week's Modern Family and he's wonderful. One of the many reasons I love being a part of this show. ❤️🎬💯"

In the new episode, Cam (Eric Stonestreet) and Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) think they overhear their daughter insult her pal during a playdate at their house, which makes them worried their little girl isn't as accepting as they thought.
