At a time of civil unrest in our country, Ben & Jerry's is not going to keep chill.
In the past, the Vermont-based creamery has thrown its support to marriage equality and Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders, but now the dairy dessert maker is weighing in on yet another heated social movement: Black Lives Matter.
On Thursday, Ben & Jerry's announced its support of the Black Lives Matter Movement on Twitter, along with a statement on systemic racism that encouraged others to engage in the cause.
The statement, signed by Your Friends at Ben & Jerry's, reads:
"Systemic and institutionalized racism are the defining civil rights and social justice issues of our time. We've come to understand that to be silent about the violence and threats to the lives and well-being of Black people is to be complicit in that violence and those threats."
Twitter was on fire immediately after the political statement was posted, with many on a sugar rush of celebration over the company's firm stance on the controversial issue.
Of course, the declaration didn't sit well with everyone, as many racists from the opposing side had some not-so-sweet responses.

Many celebrated BJ's statement by coming up with funny flavor suggestions:
On Saturday, Todd Fisher, and his wife, Catherine Hickland, organized a public memorial service for his sister, Carrie Fisher, and mom, Debbie Reynolds, who died just a day apart back in December.
The beautiful service was held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills, and was live-streamed on Reynolds' website for all to experience.
Celebs, fans, and animals alike gathered to celebrate the lives of the legendary actresses with an event that featured a tribute song from James Blunt, a performance from the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles, a dance tribute from the Debbie Reynolds dance school, and tons of costumes and memorabilia on display.
