Making your way from child star to successful entertainer in the entertainment industry isn't easy.
Though Hilary Duff has transitioned seemingly seamlessly, she recognizes the struggles!
The Lizzie McGuire star sat down with Jennifer Koppelman Hutt for the Just Jenny podcast and dished A LOT about the hardships of the entertainment industry.
Not only did Duff talk about her struggle of shedding her Lizzie image, but she also recognized the difference in how hard it it for child stars today, even someone like Selena Gomez, to experience fame. TRUTH!
"I think it's hard. I just feel for them. God, how do I answer that? It was just a different time for me. When I was just coming onto the scene, it was when all the gossip and stuff started. But now it's such an extreme level and there's such a focus on personal life. It must really be a tough struggle. I feel it, and I'm not dealing with it on the level they're dealing with it on."
Hil then went on to praise Gomez particularly regarding the songstress taking some time off, saying:
"I think the saving grace is, she makes great music. Tons people love her… The public is smart to gossip magazines and that they're just trying to make money. At the end of the day they love those people and they love their music."
The Younger star also talked about her time on LG and how difficult it was to shed her image, saying:
"Yeah, I think that it was and I think one of the smartest things I did was go into music after. you know, so I could really be 'Hilary' and not 'Lizzie.' Uhm, and I think it worked but I also say, people have such a connection to that show that sometimes they're always going to see me like that and it was frustrating when I was younger, and now I don't really give a sh*t."
However, the actress did add:
"I mean I'm grateful for the show and it taught me so much and I learned so much and I had so much fun. Ya know, I've felt a connection with so many people… It's so nice to hear people like, 'I grew up with you' and 'I still love you now.' It's just nice. But for work, sometimes I think it's been a tough burden to shake."
We hear ya grrrl!
Jenny also chatted with the young star about signing with Scooter Braun and asked if there were any plans to collaborate with Justin Bieber.
Hil said, "No," as she broke into a giggle. We mean, you can't praise Selena and then in the next breath say you're collabing with Justin! LOLz!
