This nightmare is just getting started!

American Horror Story fans have been waiting all season for series vet Evan Peters to pop up, and his long-awaited debut did NOT disappoint in the latest episode of AHS: Roanoke!

Wednesday night's chapter of Ryan Murphy's horror anthology finally showed the haunted heroes managing to escape their Roanoke nightmare, setting the stage for next episode's BIG twist that will carry us through the rest of the twisted season.

[SPIOLERS!!!!]

The latest installment introduced Peters' character as one of the many ghostly residents of the haunted Roanoke House, Edward Philippe Mott — who we met having bathtub sex with another guy!

Get it, rubber man!

We learn that Mott, a powdered-wig wearing aristocrat whose passions include art and nipple rouging, is the man who built the house, who fled the city out of fear for being in a gay, biracial relationship with one of his servants. Pretty progressive for the 1700s.

Unfortunately for Mott, the Roanoke colony finds and kills him ten minutes after his introduction. But fortunately for us, what's killed in the AHS universe doesn't stay dead, so we know our new friend will pop back up at some point.

Mott's backstory also gives fans a tie in to Season 4, when the historian being interviewed explains that the last of Mott's rich and crazy bloodline died in 1952 in Florida — which AHS fanatics will recognize as a nod to the deranged Dandy Mott in Freak Show.

Meanwhile, things are still looking pretty dire for Matt (Cuba Gooding Jr.) and Shelby (Sarah Paulson), as they are trapped by the Butcher (Kathy Bates) and the colony waiting outside.

After getting back Flora from the clutches of a very contorting, Grudge-y looking ghost, Matt and Shelby run down to the cellar to find — who else? — Edward Philippe Mott!

Mott sends the family through a special underground passage set up under the house, leading Matt, Shelby, and Flora out of the horrors in the mansion… and right into the woods, where more dangers await them.

The gang is kidnapped by the Polk family — their deranged hillbilly neighbors — where they find that Dr. Elias Cunningham (Denis O'Hare) has been barely kept alive by "Mama," played by AHS fan-fave Frances Conroy.

Mama Polk tells Matt, Shelby, and Flora that her family made a deal with the butcher centuries ago, and bashes in Cunningham's head, giving us an idea of the type of business they're in with the undead colonists.

Matt, Shelby, and Flora manage to escape, but decide to head back into those damn woods again (have they not learned from the past four episodes!?) and are once again caught by Mama Polk, who brings them back to the house to face the Butcher.

At this point, Lee (Angela Bassett) has finally been released from police questioning (it only took 48 hours…) and arrives at the house just as the colonists are about to sacrifice Flora in front of Shelby and Matt.

Just before it's too late, the Butcher's son (Wes Bentley) decides he's seen enough innocent people die, so he throws himself and his mother into the flames, giving the humans a chance to escape.

After finally fleeing the house, Matt, Shelby, Lee, and Flora head to a cheap motel. And though they say their Roanoke nightmare is over, we've still got over half a season to go… so we know the real nightmares are yet to come!

Where the heck will this season go next? We'll find out next week…
