Earlier this year, Lee Kaplan (above, left) was arrested for illegally housing twelve girls in his Pennsylvania home, putting them through years of mental and sexual abuse.

Now, it's been revealed that the deranged man brainwashed his victims to believe he was a prophet of God — grooming several of the mostly underage girls for sex, and calling six of them his "wives."

Kaplan was originally charged with sex crimes when the girls were rescued in June, but those charges have since multiplied after more harrowing details came from the investigation.

According to Bucks County District Attorney Matthew Weintraub, the 51-year-old is now being accused of not only fathering two children with the 18-year-old girl, but also sexually abusing five of her younger sisters.

Weintraub said at a news conference on Monday:

"He took these children into his home not too far from where we stand here today. Over time he played on their trust and affection for him. He groomed them to believed that he was a religious, cult-like figure for whom they should submit their will."

Weintraub says Kaplan, who pleaded not guilty to over a dozen new charges this week, allegedly used tactics similar to Stockholm syndrome to brainwash the girls, taking advantage of their innocence and abusing his authority.

The eldest girl told investigators Kaplan had his own bedroom in her parents' Lancaster County home years before. She claimed the sexual abuse began when she was 10 years old and didn't stop until her rescue this summer.

After opening up to authorities, the girls — 9 of which are reportedly sisters — said that Kaplan claimed he had "dreams" about them becoming his wives. Six of the sisters told police they were Kaplan's wives.

While the girls' every day life remains a mystery, multiple girls alleged to police they were routinely abused. It's also believed that the girls' mother Savilla Stoltzus (above, right) was living with her daughters and Kaplan during the abuse.

Weintraub added:

"They were not only hearing [that the abuse was okay] from him but from their parents."

So unsettling. We're just glad those poor girls are safe from this monster, who will hopefully spend the rest of his life behind bars.
