Hmm... Where have we heard this before...
Gigi Hadid's not backing down!
As you surely know, the supermodel faced some backlash after she tried her hand at impersonating Melania Trump during the 2016 American Music Awards. Apparently, numerous Donald Trump supporters were NOT thrilled with the blonde beauty poking fun at the future-FLOTUS' plagiarism scandal and her very unique facial expressions!
Nonetheless, Miz Hadid is standing by her comedy bit as she took to Twitter on Monday and defended:
In case you're having trouble reading the 21-year-old's handwritten note, the It-Girl penned:
"I was honored to host the AMA's last night and to work with some of the most respected writers in the business. I removed or changed anything in the script that I felt took the joke too far, and whether or not you choose to see it, what remained was done in good humor and with no bad intent."
Way to stand your ground, girl! She continued:
"I too have been the center of a nationally televised comedy skit that poked fun at my actions, and was able to find the humor in it. I believe Melania understands show business and the way shows are written and run. I apologize to anyone that I offended and have only the best wishes for our country. Respectfully, G"
Still Gigi didn't have to deal with all of the criticism on her own as her co-host, Jay Pharaoh, took on some of her haters on Facebook. He wrote:
Preach! While we imagine the Trumpster was not a fan of Hadid's take on Melania, we do wonder what the President-elect thought about Jay's impression of him? We're sure he'll let us know his opinions sooner than later…
