The first images we saw of the Chattanooga, Tennessee school bus crash that claimed the lives of five elementary aged children were haunting.

But we were even more horrified to learn driver Johnthony Walker had been "driving the school bus at a high rate of speed, well above the posted speed limit" and even reportedly asked the children if they were "ready to die."

Now at least one person is defending Walker — his mother, Gwenevere Cook. In an interview with NBC News following the crash, she said her son tried to save children from the wreckage. Unfortunately, she also said:

"My heart of love is going out to all that were in harm's way in this horrible accident of God's will… I pray we all can get this some way without judging my son. It happened. God don't make mistakes. We do."

Is she trying to excuse her son for getting these children killed because everything that happens is because of God? Really? She's trying to throw God under the bus??

Thankfully, the police aren't taking the "God's will" approach. Walker is being charged with five counts of vehicular homicide.
