We can't say we're surprised by this…
On Wednesday, it was revealed on NBC's Today show that Donald Trump has been named Time magazine's Person of the Year. Smh.
And it seems as though this year's decision was a pretty easy one, as Time editor Nancy Gibbs called the decision "one of the more straightforward years." As you surely know, the Celebrity Apprentice star won the presidential election over Hillary Clinton back in November — despite his various scandals.

On the mag's selection of the Trumpster, Gibbs explained:
"I don't think that we have ever seen one person, operating in such an unconventional way, have an impact on the events of the year."
In case you forgot, the POTY title is given to the person, group, or idea that has had the biggest influence in a given year… whether it be positive or not. Thus, our girl, H. Rodham Clinton was stuck as the runner-up for this title too.
Shockingly, "hackers" who broke into classified documents belonging to the government, celebrities, and other organizations were third on the list of influencers. Of course, others made the short list — including Beyoncé, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey, and the scientists who invented new DNA-related technology. Huh.
The President-elect even called into Today and dubbed his POTY title a "very, very great honor." Ironically, last year, the 70-year-old criticized the publication for picking German chancellor Angela Merkel. In fact, the controversial politician even theorized that he'd never be picked. Things have certainly changed in the last 12 months.
The businessman added:
"It means a lot, especially me growing up reading Time magazine, and you know, it's a very important magazine, and I've been lucky enough to be on the cover many times this year."
Excuse us as we go and scream into a pillow. Ugh.
