Matt Damon Has ALL The Wrong Opinions While Discussing Harvey Weinstein, Louis C.K., & Al Franken's Respective Scandals

matt damon sexual misconduct interview

What a disaster of an interview.

On Thursday, Matt Damon tried to tackle the many controversial sexual misconduct scandals which have plagued Hollywood — and totally put his foot in his mouth in the process. While speaking with ABC News' Peter Travers about the post-Harvey Weinstein era that is currently upon us, Damon noted that it was "wonderful that women are feeling empowered to tell their stories."

However, the A-lister then insisted that there is a "spectrum of behavior" and suggested that not all misconduct should result in loss of work. You've gotta be kidding us.

The Downsizing star shared:

"I do believe that there's a spectrum of behavior, right? And we're going to have to figure — you know, there's a difference between, you know, patting someone on the butt and rape or child molestation, right? Both of those behaviors need to be confronted and eradicated without question, but they shouldn't be conflated, right? "

For examples, the 47-year-old touched upon Al Franken and Louis C.K.'s respective scandals.

In case you forgot, the Minnesota senator offered up his resignation after countless women came forward with groping claims. As for the disgraced comedian, his I Love You, Daddy movie was pulled after he admitted to accusations of sexual impropriety.

Matt continued:

"You know, we see somebody like Al Franken, right? — I personally would have preferred if they had an Ethics Committee investigation, you know what I mean? It's like at what point — you know, we're so energized to kind of get retribution, I think.

And we live in this culture of outrage and injury, and, you know, that we're going to have to correct enough to kind of go, 'Wait a minute. None of us came here perfect.' You know what I mean? … The Louis C.K. thing, I don't know all the details. I don't do deep dives on this, but I did see his statement, which kind of, which [was] arresting to me. When he came out and said, 'I did this. I did these things. These women are all telling the truth.' And I just remember thinking, 'Well, that's the sign of somebody who — well, we can work with that' … You know what I mean? I imagine the price that he's paid at this point is so beyond anything."

C.K.'s career took a hit because he traumatized and harassed women!

Shockingly, despite his C.K./Franken apologist stance, the industry vet shared little sympathy for Weinstein.

Although Damon and Harvey collaborated on Good Will Hunting together, the Hollywood heavyweight explained that everyone knew what a bully Weinstein was.

The Oscar winner ranted:

"But when you talk about Harvey and what he's accused of, there are no pictures of that. He knew he was up to no good. There's no witnesses. There's no pictures. There's no braggadocio. That stuff happened secretly, because it was criminal and he knew it. So they don't belong in the same category."

Sure, they don't belong in the same category, but that doesn't mean we need to forgive serial harassers. In an attempt to distance himself from Weinstein, Matt relayed:

"A lot of people said, ‘Well, Harvey — everybody knew' … that's not true. Everybody knew what kind of guy he was in the sense that if you took a meeting with him, you knew that he was tough and he was a bully, and that was his reputation. [But with regard to the rape allegations,] nobody who made movies for him knew … Any human being would have put a stop to that, no matter who he was."

At one point, the celebrated performer did concede:

"I knew I wouldn't want him married to anyone close to me… But that was the extent of what we knew. I mean, and that wasn't a surprise to anybody. So when you hear Harvey this, Harvey that — I mean, look at the guy. Of course he's a womanizer."

We BET Matt is already regretting this interview. Be sure to ch-ch-check out the disastrous sit down for yourself (below).
