Blake Lively has blessed Ryan Reynolds' life in ways he'll never forget.

In an interview with Mr. Porter, the Deadpool 2 star revealed that his wife encouraged him to repair his "complicated" and "fractured" relationship with his father just before the elder Reynolds passed away.

The revelation came when Reynolds opened up more about his lifelong battle with anxiety, which he said stemmed from growing up in a lower-middle-class family in Vancouver under the watch of his "full-time landmine" father.

Reynolds describes his father Jim, who died in 2015 after battling Parkinson's disease, as "a former cop" and "former boxer" who was "good in many ways" but also "tough."

Growing up in a house that "was never relaxing or easy" gave the 41-year-old anxiety that he channeled into comedic performances, but it also led to a falling out between the actor and his father. That is, until Lively stepped in and suggested he mend the broken relationship a few years ago.

Thanks to his wife's "gift for foresight," the actor and his father reconciled prior to Jim's death — and Jim was able to meet the couple's first daughter James, who was named after him. Reynolds explained:

"It felt right. All family relationships come with some complications. For better or worse, all roads lead to here. At the end of the day, it's easier to focus on the good stuff than the bad. My father died soon after my daughter was born, but he got to see her, which makes me happy."

Reynolds has had to fight to be happy for quite some time living with his anxiety, which he said can be both debilitating and also a "great" fuel:

"I mean, my God, it's the anti-complacency pill, but it's also something that you need to manage."

The actor added that exercise and comedy help him combat his depression:

"I'll look for the joke in things so that I don't look for the sadness and the grief… Otherwise, I start to get a little bummed. For me, it is more psychological. Exercise is a means of expelling those demons."

Thankfully, he has a lot to be thankful for:

"I love being a dad. It's the best thing that ever happened to me."

Your thriving movie career doesn't suck either, Ry!
