We think someone is gunning for another Oscar!

It has just been announced that Jennifer Hudon will be appearing in the new biopic Winnie, which follows the life of the former wife of Nelson Mandela.

It's sure to be a rather heavy viewing and when asked about accepting the role, Jennifer replied:

“I was compelled and moved when I read the script. Winnie Mandela is a complex and extraordinary woman and I’m honored to be the actress asked to portray her. This is a powerful part of history that should be told.”

For those of you who don't know, Winnie Mandela was just as much a fighter against apartheid as Nelson is. She too was jailed for her campaigning, but it was her association with a man who murdered a 14-year old alleged informant that ultimately shattered her good name.

There, a history lesson for the day. Now, you can skip school if you want.

Jennifer Hudson is a busy gal with her music and film careers not to mention she's a new mom!

But the Academy Award-winning actress is now in talks to portray the lead role in a biopic about South African leader Winnie Mandela.

Derek Luke or Idris Elba may be tapped to play husband Nelson Mandela, but nothing is confirmed as of right now.

Winnie Mandela is a controversial political figure who has long since been divorced from Nelson Mandela and eventually found her way into some legal troubles and on the receiving end of some sharp criticism from her native South Africa.

Sounds intense!

Could it be another Oscar for J-Hud?!

He's SO cute!

Jennifer Hudson gave birth to lil' David in August and she is crazy about motherhood.

"I love being nurturing and caring because I love to see other people happy," said Jennifer. "Who better to devote my time to than my own child?"

And he's definitely a lively one!

"He has a lot of personality, like David," she continued. "His favorite time to smile now is diaper changes. Or when he spits up on you – he just cracks up like he thinks it’s the funniest thing. And his bottle is his pacifier. With a pacifier, it’s like he knows, ‘Ain’t nothing come out of here. No, I don’t want that. Where’s the real deal?’ His best friend is that bottle; that’s all he wants."

But, we bet he gets sung some killer lullabies!

We'd love to hear Jennifer Hudson put out a Christmas song that would become as timeless as Mariah's I'll Be Home For Christmas!

J-Hud is going to host a holiday music special shot in her hometown of Chicago called Jennifer Hudson: I’ll Be Home For Christmas. The one-hour special event on ABC will take viewers along with the Oscar winner as she “relives her childhood Christmases with musical performances shot on location at the small neighborhood church where she brought the congregation to its feet week after week; the music academy where she studied; and other Chicago sites."

No air date yet, but hopefully, it'll be later rather than soon. We are so not ready for it to be X-mas yet. It's still only October! But we are excited to hear what she is going to sing.

She sounds so happy!

After giving birth to David Daniel Otunga, Jr. back in August, proud mama Jennifer Hudson can't stop gushing about her baby boy!

"He's the cutest thing in the world! There are no words for it. He's the best. It's just amazing – us discovering each other, me becoming a mom."

Little David is also said to be very musical already, calming down when Jennifer plays music for him:

"The other night he was having a fit screaming, and someone turns on the music and he just stops and calms down. And I was exactly the same way as a baby. Sometimes when he cries, I try to harmonize!"

Hudson also opened up about her own mother, who she lost so tragically last year:

"I think she was a great example of being a mother, so when [my son] first got home, I was like, 'Everything I do will be out of love. That's what drives me in the middle of the night when I'm knocked out sleeping and he wakes up."

Now the family, including Jennifer's fiance David Otunga, is gearing up for the upcoming holidays including Halloween!

"I wish he was older so he could remember it, but this is the first one, so I have to go all out. It's going to be great."

Sounds like she's made a lovely family for herself and we truly couldn't be happier for Jennifer!

Hey, New York City! Got plans tomorrow?

Wanna see Jennifer Hudson sing live? Then make sure to get yourself down to Central Park West and 72nd street on Tuesday night for what is sure to be a special night.

In honor of the 70th anniversary of the Wizard of Oz, Central Park will be hosting a free screening of the newly remastered, high definition flick, along with special performances of the movie's classic songs by J-Hud and Dancing With The Stars alum Julianne Hough.

So New Yorkers, get yourself to Rumsey Playfield EARLY! The festivities start at 7:30 PM, tomorrow!

Only a few months after becoming a new mom herself, Jennifer Hudson will now be welcoming another miniature member to the family: a niece or nephew!

Her sister Julia, who tragically lost her son Julian when he was murdered last year, is now four months along with another child. The women are said to be overjoyed and their sisterly bond has been strengthened by this news.

A source says, “They know they can never replace Julian, but this new baby has brought the family a lot of joy.”

For now, the sisters are said to be on the phone all the time "comparing notes" and making plans for the little guy or gal!

Aw! They'll have babies that can grow up together! We think that's sweet!

When Oprah Winfrey throws a party, you know it is going to be HUGE!

For her 24th season opener, O held a MEGA concert on Chicago’s Mag Mile on Tuesday, closing it off for three whole days. Some of the big names attached to the event are Jennifer Hudson, James Taylor, Rascal Flatts and the Black Eyed Peas.

In her first performance since becoming a mom last month, we hear J-Hud was phenomenal during her soundtrack, but then struggled through the set during the actual taping. She reportedly re-taped her entire performance which included her hits Spotlight and If This Isn’t Love as well as her rendition of I'm Every Woman.

We can't wait to hear that!

The premiere will air tomorrow (September 10th)

Jennifer Hudson is now a mommy!

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the American Idol alum gave birth to a bouncing baby boy on Monday named David Daniel Otunga, Jr., after his daddy, I Love New York star David Otunga.

David Jr. weighs in at a healthy 7 lbs and 14 oz, and Hudson revealed to sources that she and Otunga didn't know the baby's sex ahead of time.

Congrats to the new parents!
