As we mentioned earlier, John McCain snubbed David Letterman by canceling last minute on his scheduled appearance on The Late Show.
Instead, he decided to speak with Katie Couric for the CBS evening news. And Letterman didn’t take that too well.
So, McCain promised to appear Thursday night on the funny man’s show.
And the politician finally kept his word.
At the taping in the afternoon, the show started with Letterman asking playfully, “Can you stay?”
As a result of receiving all that negative press, McCain told Letterman, “I screwed up” in regards to canceling his previous appearance.
Letterman also commented that he felt he was the “ugly date” since McCain stood him up the on September 24th appearance when he was going to talk about how to deal with the economy.
Instead, Letterman was forced to bring on McCain critic Keith Olbermann of MSNBC to fill in for McCain that night.
But, on Thursday, McCain made it a priority to appear on the show. He even flew by helicopter to New York from Philadelphia after a weather delay grounded his campaign plane.
Good thing he made it. If not, you know Letterman would have ripped him a new one!
