The internet is ablaze!!!!
While we eagerly await the new Green Day record, it seems like Billie Joe and crew are having a little fun with a side project.
A band called "Foxboro Hot Tubs" has released an EP of six songs that has people speculating that it's the Green Day boys experimenting with a new sound.
The tunes are very '60s-inspired and hella cool.
And the lead singer sounds like it's definitely Billie Joe!

green day discovered one of my favorite bands "THE LIVING END" and put them on there label. to me it sounds like Green Day just ripped there sound off hardcore. this pisses me off green day sucks and they are thieves! the living end does this sound WAY better! if you like this sound check them out.

Their new sound is cool. If anyone like's 60's jazz sound there was a band about 5 years ago called Noonday Underground. Light Brigade, London…awesome jazz retro sound. I was going through an underground jazz bar stage. Had a boyfriend who was into rockabilly though, he looks a lot like Andy Hurley. Think the guy your looking for looks a lot like Chris Taylor, could be Kurt's dead ringer.

All the songs have the classic intonation of Billie Joe Armstrong in them…if you're daft enough not to notice, then please don't declare yourself as a fan/encyclopedia of Green Day. Green Day has previously released songs under The Network as well, and it was a NO-BRAINER that it was them. It's the same case for Foxboro Hot Tubs as well…anyways…

Well it might be them. Green Day is known for their side bands. For example, look for Pinhead Gunpowder. It is w/o a doubt Billie Joes side band, and they're pretty amazing to say the least in punk music standards. So check them out too! This one sure sounds good though.

The songs are pretty awesome. Green Day are an awesome band, definately one of the better bands out there these days.
Another interesting fact, the Green Day song 'Tired Of Waiting', off of Shenannigans, has an almost identicle beginning to the song 'Red Tide' by the Foxboro Hot Tubs. Compare them and you'll see. It's actually VERY creepy…
"Tired Of Waiting" is actually a song Green Day covered by a band called The Kinks, formed in the 1960's.
And this is definitely Green Day, anyone who's says it's not doesn't know GD. I'm just not sure what to think of it yet. I hope the next record they put out sounds nothing like this though, that would be a complete downer.

Back in the day There was so much good music coming from indie labels. Out of the bay area was a great little label that put out some great tunez. It was Lookout! I always loved their comps, packed with hits. Most of these bands had a pop kinda sound. This album brings back moments of greatness that I once thought were lost in the 90's. it's definitely them. billie's voice and tre's drum beats are unmistakable. they did the same thing with the band The Network, only they were experimenting with 80's music. CHECK THEM OUT TOO.

I honestly think it's very hard to tell bands apart with this sound and voice. It does however sound a lot like Billy Joe towards the end of the first song, and the second song definitely. I have my doubts, but that would be so fun if it was them!

You early Green Day purists are so ignorant. God forbid a band mature and experiment with different sounds. While I may resent the "omgamericanidiotistehroxrz" fans, I congratulate Green Day on their success on that album. Sure, it may mean they'll be playing at arenas instead of clubs, but I'll just get pit tix[only if reasonably priced] and step on all the eyeliner-laden tweens.
They are an amazing band who have incredible staying power and can do no wrong.

Re: Jen – Sweetheart, you can't honestly believe that Dookie isn't TRL. Nimrod came out after Dookie and the only two songs that had ANY time on MTV were "Hitchin' a Ride" and "Time of Your Life". Granted, "TIme of Your Life" is a classic, But Dookie had about four songs that had a seemingly infinate amount of ari time, and three of them were singles that all reached MTV and TRL. So, Dookie was TRL. And another thing, you can take that "Punker then thow" attatude and shove it up your ass.
