The pair lasted 11 years, which in Hollywood rarely happens.
No details are known about the split. She probably just got fed up with the crazy.

Six years ago I was in a hotel lobby in Santa Monica having drinks with a girlfriend of mine when Sean Penn's bodyguard came up to us and asked us to join them at their table. We pretended not to know who they were and joined them. Sean was with a blonde babe (NOT his wife) and they were very close, if you know what I mean. He's probably has a piece on the side for years, so I've just been waiting for this announcement. However, I might add, he was very cool, very humble and fun to be around!!!

I recently saw Robin in "Breaking & Entering", and she is an exceptional actress. If Sean has been cheating on the beautiful mother of his children, he is a narcassistic fool. Sean is an accomplished actor, but his crude personality & violent rages are a turn-off. I never could figure out why she married him in the first place. She was young and beautiful with a great career and she could have had anyone, but she wanted this abusive drawf. Now she is starting over and will never be what she could have been. Nothing lasts forever, and particularly in those moneyed circles due to excess temptation available everywhere like a 5-star buffet. They did very well to stick together for 17 years, and children, but have just called it a day. Penn is so intelligent that I believe he's a bit tortured, as I also believe Robin is.
