When police entered Britney Spears' home last night, they noted that she appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance.
However, Life & Style magazine is claiming that Brit Brit was not on drugs Thursday evening, when she had her meltdown.
“Her blood test just came back, and, thank God, it was clean. There are no traces of drugs or alcohol of any kind,” Osama Lutfi a source close to the Spears family tells Life & Style.
They're able to get blood tests back from a lab in a matter of hours???? During the middle of the night!!
We find that highly suspicious.
Did they test for prescription pills??????

Brit started having her serious problems after the birth of her second child. I am wondering if she is not suffering from post-partum depression and needs some serious, meds, diet and nutrition as well as medical confinement AWAY from the media circus.

I had a break down 9 years ago where I was laughing hysterically and crying at the same time and was put on 5150. I wasn't on any drugs of any kind. A mental breakdown doesn't have to be accompanied by drugs. Her life has been enough to do it.

As others have said here, her behaviour doesn't necessarily indicate drug-use. A mental breakdown, even severe depression can cause unusual borderline psychotic behavior. Slurred speech, screaming, uncontrollable crying, feeling like your head is in cotton and you can't think clearly - all can be brought on by emotional breakdown.
This is sad beyond sad. There is waaaay to much stress and pressure on her. Not many could deal with people stalking your every move 24/7 to get a pic. I'd flip out too. Long before she did.

Re: Kelly – Kelly has a very valid point - with schizophrenia and severe bi-polar/manic depression there are often patterns - certain times of year that it is worse than others. I have a friend whose paranoia really kicks in around March every year. And it seems Britney's worst times of year are around Jan-Feb - didn't she marry that high school boyfriend in Jan '06, then shaved her head in Feb '07 - now a breakdown in Jan '08. This is a pattern.
For the first time in a while, I really feel bad for her. I really hope she gets real, significant help.

If Britney truly does suffer from Bi-Polar Disorder, it's possible she was just having a manic episode and didn't realize the shit-storm it would create. She likely didn't anticipate that locking herself in a washroom with Jayden (thereby violating a court order and giving the cops reason to believe she may harm the child) would cause cop cars, ambulances, fire trucks and helicopters to descend on her house. By then she could've been running on pure adrenaline - her anxiety levels were probably off the charts. In the footage of her being unloaded at the hospital she looks completely disoriented and scared, and likely coming down from the "high"…with reality starting to sink in.
For anyone who has experienced a loved one going through this they know themselves that mental illness is a scary, scary thing.

Sorry to burst your happy bubble on this one Perez, but it only takes a matter or hours (sometimes less) to get an EDS or alcohol level back. I work in a much smaller hospital in a less populated area, and it doesn't take long at all. Like someone else said, they need to know what people have in their system before pumping them up with all the good meds. And another person pointed this out, due to HIPPA, we will not know the truth– family sources can lie their asses off– and if someone at the hospital does leak the results, they should be fired and banned from healthcare.

Yes, they can check for drugs/alcohol in the system very quickly. Unfortunately my husband had a mental breakdown, and they thought he was on meth. They did all the tests very quickly.

I work for a large, national lab, and yes they can get most drug testing back that fast. There are certain tests, however, that DO take longer than that…I am highly suspicious that all prescriptions drugs were ruled out that quickly, myself.

They can't release any of her information. She's over 18 so her family doesn't even have to know the whole story if she doesn't want them to because she has to give the doctors permission to disclose that information (as someone mentioned in a previous post it's called HIPPA, health information patient protection act)… even to her close family. I'm sure the courts can attempt to have her medical records disclosed for the custody hearings somehow, but other than that I wouldn't believe any of the bullshit her PR people and shady ass "friends" are saying to the press.

Yes, a tox screen does indeed test for prescription drugs (opiates, barbitruates, narcotics, basically, any controlled substance) as well as illegal drugs and alcohol and can be done very quickly…so no suspiciousness there. As to wether or not she's actually clean, well, that's the questionable content of this report…

Why would a "close source to the family" even discuss something like this. I wouldn't want someone "close" to me discussing my lab tests, ya know? Also, it is possible lab tests can come back quick but depending what and how many things they are testing for.

umm Perez? Hospitals are very well equipped to perform drug testing on blood and urine at all hours of the night. It is claimed that her blood tests were negative, but nobody mentioned her urine test which would test for opiates, marijuana, benzos, cocaine, and a whole host of other substances that may not show up on a blood test. Let's not also forget the possibility that this young woman is also extremely mentally ill and who knows if she is supposed to be taking prescribed psychiatric medications. If her blood tests were negative, then that right there is an indicator she isn't taking her meds. Instead of fucking around with her head, people should help this unfortunate woman. she obviously needs it.

ERs are a 24/7 operation. a ER tox screen is a urine test, not a blood test and you would totally expect it to come back in an hour or less. also totally reasonable to get results of a blood alcohol level, CBC, Basic, and Urine pregnancy in that time. These are all routine.
I tried to OD on a prescription drug this past October. My boyfriend called the police, who thought I seemed to be on cocaine (I wasn't). When I was taken to the hospital at around 2 or 3 am, they did do a drug test and got the results back within hours. They have to be able to determine what combination the person has taken and weather or not they need to pump your stomach, etc. That 72-hour lockdown sucks!! Poor Britney…

Hospital labs are open 24/7. They never close. So, yes, they could have had her blood work back that quickly. Drug testing is a high prority test. They can't give you any new drugs without knowing what is already in your system.
This girl has totally messed up her life. I really wish that she had real people around her, that give a damn about her. All she has are paps and hangers on that use her, for her fame, and money. If I were her parents, I would hire a team to kidnap her and send her to a detox and regeneration retreat in Europe or some far away country where she didn't have access to television or a telephone. My question is with 5 police cars and a fire truck escort, why were the papps allowed to bang on the ambulance door when it got to the hospital? When the papps were chasing the ambulance and their camera flashes going off, why weren't they all arrested for dangerous driving?

Emergency Depts have to have fast access to lab results from blood tests, xrays, CT scans, etc in order to stabilize the patient. If she was being watched for mental issues, they have to rule out drug use first. And, if they need to sedate the patient, they have to know what is in the patient's system before administering any new drug to avoid potential lethal drug interactions.
So yes, hospital labs operate 27/7 and can produce results to the physician within the hour of the lab being drawn.

you can have drug test results immediately in the middle of the night. when i first met my boyfriend, i awoke to him having a seizure. i freaked and called 911. when we got to the hospital, they were suspicious that he was on drugs and tested him. the results where back within an hour. none the less, he was clean. he had just been taking a medication wrong and it caused the seizure. so yes, perrrrrrrez, you can get them that quick. as far as britney goes, its all too strange. hmmmmm…..

my best friend tests blood at a hospital, and she works night shifts quite often. That's because there are blood tests that come back quickly and blood samples for the ER that needs immediate testing, night or day. Just because it takes you a week before your regular, private doctor gets back to you about your clamydia-or-whatever test doesn't mean testing the blood itself takes that long, that's just because of queues. emergency means ”let's skip the queue” usually y'know. Anyways, I know little if anything about different blood tests but I do know you shouldn't be babbling on about things you don't know jack about.

I used to work in a medical laboratory at a hospital for 11 years. It is very routine to get drug screens back in the middle of the night, within a few hours, in a hospital environment. ER physicians will always order a drug analysis on patients that have over-dosed on drugs. They have to know what drugs have been ingested to counter the effects. These tests are always order STAT, so they are routinely performed around the clock in a hospital environment.
Not defending her, but I have a friend who has bi-polar and if she does not take her meds and has an episode it does appear that she is under the influence of drugs, when in fact she is not. This is serious and if she is this unstable, which really isn't her fault, I do believe it would be best to keep the kids away from her until she gets the help she desperately needs. Take a few years off from the limelight Brit and get your shit together. People can function with bi-polar if they want to.
Good point hmmm…I was just going to make the same one…hospitals can get blood tests back no matter the day or night. Blood is drawn and tested around the clock. Hospitals never sleep.
Dude, don't flap your jaws when you don't know what you're talking about. Hospital labs are open 24 hours. Blood work can be competed in minutes.

I work in healthcare and you CAN get drug test results back very quickly. I've seen it in as little as an hour.
