Australian sweethearts Natalie Imbruglia and Daniel Johns are getting divorced.
Sad.
The couple just released the following statement, announcing their split.
"While we are very sad that our marriage has ended, we want to make it clear that our parting is amicable and we remain friends. This mutual decision has not been taken lightly or quickly.
However, our career demands and our lives in different parts of the world have brought us to the point where unfortunately this difficult decision was necessary for both of us.
We have simply grown apart through not being able to spend enough time together.
We have issued this statement to set the record straight and to eliminate any need for speculation.
We will not be making any further public statements whatsoever in regard to this very private matter and politely ask that people respect our sincere wishes in this regard."

Of course they were gonna get a divorce. when they had their last concert here in ATLANTA Daniel got drunk an after the show he drove my best friends car around the city. Well as a fan of silverchair i know that they've been on tour for probably over a year now, and working their asses off. From keeping up with them and seeing their schedules and vids of their concerts and interviews on youtube you can really see that they are out there busting their ass to promote the album (on many top 5 lists of best of 2007) and get paid. As a married man i simply would go nuts being away from my wife that long. Sucks for them that it didn't work out.
Aww. That's sad. I liked them. Maybe it's because Silverchair last year became really popular (in Australia, at least) again.
Who knows.

This news has totally shocked me. They were all over each other a few weeks ago, I wonder what went wrong? They seemed such a great match, and Natalie was always saying that if her career got in the way of their marriage then she'd quit for a while and move back to Australia. I actually cried when I read this, and it probably doesn't help that I'm now listening to all the songs they wrote about each other. *cries*
I can only hope that they'll realise this is a mistake and won't go through with the divorce. They split before for the same reasons, so I'll just hope they'll get together again. This has certainly ruined New Year for me though.

FRIENDS of Natalie Imbruglia and Daniel Johns are shocked by the couple's split, days after the stars looked happy together on an Australian Christmas break.
On Boxing Day, they were pictured holding hands and smiling after a dinner with friends at a restaurant in The Rocks.
The next day, Imbruglia was seen outside her home, carrying a bottle of wine and wearing her wedding ring, with Johns, 28, by her side.
But only a week later, Australia's hottest music pairing had called it quits.
The marriage lasted four years. One friend said yesterday the speed of the breakdown in the relationship was still a shock.
"They always looked so great together," the friend said.
Imbruglia, 32, and Johns met at the ARIA Awards in 1999 and married four years later on New Year's Eve in Port Douglas..
In a statement the couple said "they have unfortunately decided to end their marriage".

She was unwilling to meet him half way, though my guess she saw it the other way around.
