Star magazine editorial director Bonnie Fuller has written this article claiming that Britney had her big breakdown Thursday night on purpose.
For real!
Fuller hypothesizes that Brit Brit was jealous of all the attention that little sister Jamie Lynn was getting because of her teenage pregnancy, which drove Unfitney to act out.
Now, we had joked that Britney would do something to upstage her sister, but come on!!!

Some of it is definitely her trying to get attention, but more because she may be trying to fill the void of her failed career more than trying to compete with her sister. That's just stupid. She's been acting crazy for a long time and she's had public breakdowns before. She doesn't have the same reputation she did back at the height of her career, so now it's like she's trying to be really good at being bad since she's not the pretty, adored pop star that she used to be. I do think she might be milking the crazy thing a little bit, but it doesn't have anything to do with her sister.

While the latest headlines on the blog read that Spears allegedly planned her recent freak out in order to garner more attention than recent news of her little sister’s pregnancy, this could mean disaster for Spears. I, for one, am tempted to believe that Spears is in fact a fiend for paparazzi and gossip about herself. She may actually read Perez Hilton’s blog. Having said that, I can offer a pretty valid prediction for what’s next on the agenda for Spears: Spears may or may not shave her eyebrows and draw them on with a sharpie marker. However, if I were BritBrit’s PR person (who needs to be fired, by the way, if she even has one) I would suggest getting rid of the weave and whatever real hair she may have and drawing on her own scalp with marker. I don't think she did it on purpose. Britney's been headed for a breakdown for atleast a few weeks now. Im a HUGE fan, but I think people around her should have been on a better lookout when she started missing depositions to drive around aimlessly. Clearly she was missing them because she felt she didn't have a chance at getting the kids, and didn't wanna face it much the same way she didn't want to face giving her kids back last night, so she didn't. The girl snapped and I dont blame her. You have the paps chasing her ass even when shes being hauled off to the hospital, and mean spirited people who say things just to be assholes, and everyone expecting her to fail anyways even when she is trying. What Britney really needs is someone to just baby her a little, and tell her everything is gonna be alright, and then tell her she needs to get her shit in order so that she can (eventually a LOOOONG time from now) get her babies back. This is a sad situation I do not feel she is doing this to outstage her sister, I think she is lonely and is hurting inside. Day after day reading the horrible things that are being published about her. she has no suppourt system and is unable to trust anyone because people are telling the whole world her information. Looking at the pictures you can tell something is seriously wrong with her, and if she did stage this event a hospital would not take part in it. Think about it the hospital has made it to where she is not allowed to leave for 72 hours.

I think she started to break down a little, and then just started to go out of control. I think she THINKS she's crazy, and as a result, she acts as if she's crazy. I do think she did it partly for attention, but not because of Jamie Lynn. If you look at all the things she's done in the past year, they continually get worse. AUTHORITIES: BRITNEY SPEARS WAS NOT UNDER THE INFLUENCE
January 04, 2008
Although police initially suspected Britney Spears was "under the influence of an unknown substance" during a nearly three-hour standoff with police Thursday night, authorities have since determined Spears was clean and sober.
According to Los Angeles police Officer Ana Aguirre, there was no evidence the pop star had been drinking or doing drugs during the Jan. 3 incident.
"Our understanding is that was not the case," she said.
"There was a time where she was within the residence and wasn't available to be speaking to the officers, apparently," added Aguirre. "There was no threat to the children."
Aguirre confirmed both Spears' children were turned over to her ex-husband Kevin Federline and the pop star was taken to the hospital.
"We're not aware of any type of injuries that she sustained" and she was not combative with authorities, Aguirre said.
Spears is currently at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she is reportedly on a 72-hour lockdown for mental evaluation.
The troubled singer's father, Jamie, reportedly has been at the hospital, by his daughter's side.
I totally think she did it to "one-up" her sister. Like come on! This is the biggest thing she's ever done, and I really doubt it was just a coincident that it happened right after it was announced that her sister was pregnant! I mean, I am in no way denying that this girl has SEVERE emotional and mental stability issues, but the timing is just too right.
Clearly this is a woman who is distraught over the loss of a man that was once her husband with whom she has two children with and wanted to live the perfect, I'm happy life with. Didn't happen like that and she has been on a downward spiral since. She needs help and I hope she gets it…she's been crying for help for a long time now. You like her or you dont - reality is that she is suffering. Her breakdown is due to her ongoing battle with herself. Unfortunately everyone is ecstatic to put in their two cents about her mishap; most speak negative calling her whore and what not. If all we have is to say rude comments about others, perhaps analyzing one's life should be done instead! So she broke down - let it be. Hopefully this event will help her analyze her own life.

She easily could have made an actual attempt, but it wasn't called in as such because they were more concerned about the kids at that point. You can't tell just by looking at her what she did or didn't do or what kind of treatment she may have received. She deserves compassion …
