Public Statement on Britney Spears from a Concerned Person of the World
1st of January 2008
Lets just all take a small tiny week of your life doing the following =
01) If you see a Britney post on a website, magazine or newspaper, just don't read it nor look at the image presented.
02) Lets not comment on blogs when there is a Britney post.
03) When you feel the urge to search for Britney's latest news, try to think of something else to do. It must be something worth it and enjoyable.
04) Just take a moment everyday to realize that our interest in Britney's life (even though it's very minor such as reading up news on a celebrity) is actually building up pain and suffering into other people's lives. It's really sad how people tend to think that one little thing that we do doesn't matter.
Please feel free to add in 05, 06 and so on.

Although I do believe a part of this official statement/response ….. I don't buy the "exploitation" concern by the parents. Give me an F'in break. Mama Spears blatently exploited her 16 year old daughter by selling her pregnancy story to a tabloid magazine. She exploited both of her daughters and turned them in to cash cows for her own financial gain (Nice Range Rover and Cadillac's y'all drive there Mr. & Mrs. Spears). Mama Spears needs to realize that exploitation is exploitation and she can not pick and choose what situation is labeled exploitation or not. Shame on Dr. Phil and shame on the entire Spears family.

the family got themselves into a bind. they wanted to still make money and get pr even while britney was a mess and made a deal with dr. phil for a show about a drug intervention, but when dr. phil finally saw her at the hospital, he was like, "i'm not a psychiatrist, she needs serious psychiatric help not just drug treatment and rehab." they were annoyed and still haven't done anything about her mental illness because they are so ignorant. so yes, dr. phil was an opportunist for agreeing to use her for an intervention show, but c'mon..even HE is now like.. PLEASE get this girl REAL help! so you can imagine how PISSED they are at him for calling them out.

Unfortunately for her, "Dr." Phil, probably not realizing the consequences of his actions, spoke to the media about what occurred. Dr. Phil, who is so used to talking about his patients openly to the media and his tv audience, did not think about how it negatively affect any credibility he may have as a medical professional. Just goes to show that he has been out of the profession too long because he didn't think twice about blabbing what little he knew to the media…since he does it all the time about everyone else he "treats."

Privacy is crucial to building trust and as a psychologist Dr. Phil should know it. Certainly it must have come up in the ethics class or as part of the jurisprudence exam he was forced to take. When the Spears family asked for Dr. Phil’s help they did not seek more publicity. Dr. Phil’s public announcements regarding the Spears family reveal him as an opportunist whose self-serving interests exploit the people he claims to help. It must have been too much temptation after working with the Spears family behind the scenes for so many years. In this case I feel Dr. Phil is worse than the people he claims “jump out from behind a tree and just stand around, panting, waiting for the next meltdown.” At least they don’t misrepresent their intentions. Why else would he share his personal advice for the troubled star on his website for all to see? Dr. Phil’s credibility as a caring health provider is completely blown and I can’t bear to listen to anything else he has to say. He is a user and I feel pity for his friends.

I do not work at the hospital but several people close to me have been hospitalized there. They also have a facility with private suites, room service, 24/7 doctors, luxury treatment. I hope and pray for your daughter and I know what you are going through now. Forget Dr. Phil, help get her in a good treatment center that specializes in mood disorders and other personality issues. While Dr. Phil is a big windbag as far as I'm concerned who is clearly MADE for television, I think in this instance he is just the messenger. I'm sure he was thinking made-for-TV as much as he was at the beck and call of the Spears family. They probably thought in some perverse way that if they had a celebrity "doctor" visit Britney that she would listen. We don't know what really happened in the hospital. The REAL doctors may have had the situation under control. Yes, she needs to be in residential treatment but at her age, only she can make that decision for herself. I hope she gets the right meds and the right medical/psychiatric treatment for herself and her children. But I don't have a lot of sympathy for her family. They are definitely part of the problem and should be treated as such in therapy. Britney doesn't have anywhere to turn and needs the tools to function well, but can't, so she's lashing out all over the place. Very sad.

Dr. Phil claims he has been helping the Spears behind the scenes for over a year. Clearly he's a failure. Despite his help and close friendship with the Spears he was going to do a show on Britney. Hmm. Some friend.
Both parents were to be on the show, so where do they now get off now claiming he went to far?

This is what is so sad and alarming about Britney's condition. They all have tried to help her; Mom, Dad, Dr. Phil, but she seems so far gone that she refuses help EVEN FOR HERSELF. So, now they are all turning on each other in frustration and worry because this girl is still refusing help she seems to need. Britney was already not talking to her mom before Dr. Phil was asked to speak to her, so the family certainly can't blame him for that. She is in so much trouble, (loss of custody, stand-off at her house, etc.) and in my opinion, this is the mess that her condition leaves behind for disempowered loved ones who seem to be sentenced to watching their daughter circle the drain simply because she's legal age. Dr. Phil actually called the situation for what it is, and might be courageous enough and prepared to be vilified for it.
You know, when someone is down we have two choices. We can stand around and kick them, or we can reach a hand out to pull them up. I understand, Perez, what you do on your site and I understand sarcasm, etc. I have no problem with it in fun. But, truly, this is someone's life. She needs help before she kills herself. Well, her family did call Dr. Phill, and he had to say something about the meeting, the paparazzi saw him leave Cedars with her. So what was he supposed to do? He made a comment about seeing her, and that yeah she is in need of psychological and mental health. I think thats pretty damn obvious. The family is just pissed because they need someone to be mad at. I mean, their 16 year old daughter is knocked up by some 18 year old dude and their other daughter is having a mental breakdown. If they were so worried about being taken advantage of, they should have called a PRIVATE shrink, not someone who tapes daily television shows, duh.
