Avril Lavigne has been accused of stealing songs many times.
The Candian singer and "songwriter" just settled a plagiarism lawsuit brought against her by the band the Rubinoos, who claim Lavigne's song Girlfriend sounded TOO MUCH like their song I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend.
The terms of the out of court deal are confidential, but we're pretty sure Avril had to pony up some cash.
We hope she paid Peaches too!

sorry perez but settlements occur ALL the time, you should know. just because someone settles a bogus civil lawsuit DOESN'T mean they are guilty or at fault for anything; it just means it cheaper to settle than going through the costs of a trial and letting a jury full a stupid retarded morons choosing your fate. trust me when i say it is SO MUCH smarter and cheap to settle early. it sucks but our "legal system" sucks.

I have been a huge fan of Avril since her debute. It was even more enjoyable to know she was from Napanee which is 20 minutes away form where I live. Such a shame I din't get to meet her before she got famous.
Anyways, Avril has had not so good moments the last little while and I do think she is starting to act a little snobby. but I dont have to deal with her on an every day basis and what she does with ehr life doesn't phase me. For all the Avril supporters, you're entitled to your tastes in music however…when Avril put out her first album she claimed to have been the primary writer of most of the songs on it. But, the writing team who actually wrote the "hit" singles have repeatedly stated that Miss Avril would come in and change one or two words to see more "punk" while they did all the real writing. She's had allegations from people she's worked closely with as well (Chantel Craviazuk to name one). Besides that, it's not only the lyrics of Girlfriend that were in question, it was the music as well which was "analyzed" by people who actually know what they're doing. If you're going to support her, you may as well know all the facts.
