This is an interesting debate… Armenia is in the ASIA MINOR subcontinent along with Turkey and some other former USSR countries, but also know that Armenia is located by the CAUCASUS mountains. Doesn't the word CAUCASUS sound similar to CAUCASIAN?? Plus, Armenian is an INDO EUROPEAN language. So the point is, Armenia is located in ASIA (and so is much of RUSSIA), but there are cultural differences that make it unique amongst what many ignorant, uneducated people may think.
Think about it this way — you don't call a blonde haired, blue eyed person Russian an ASIAN just because their country sprawls throughout the Asian continent. Same with Armenians!

So while we may be thought to be Asian because our country is partly over the border, we are not Asian in race/ethnicity. People from Armenian haven't historically thought of themselves as Asian, as Armenia emerged out of the Soviet Union(now Russia) and those people were European; a native Armenian would be European basically.
However no nobodies/countries are still native since the days of C Columbous, were all a big mix now. I actually had my DNA tested for my phd university study&it turns out I've actually got more African DNA than anything else yet I have the colour of an Armenain&vice vera for my black girlfriend, complexion of Taye Diggs, she had more European DNA than me. As we all know in this world where people originating from Africa have ended up in the West Indies and became West Indian as opposed to African in culture, things are more tricky then just ticking the box which most people would assume based solely on skin colour or location point in the world. People from the West Indies developed a new culture for themselves after leaving Africa, as did the people who left Russia for Armenia. Lets all stop getting caught up in race and just get caught up in people, who each bring something different to the table. Because if we were all the same it would be boring wouldn't it?

Asian means from Asia, but obviously the term has been skewed over time to only mean oriental people.

First off, Armenian is not a race. I don't see why that was even an issue for them. Clearly they would mark off Caucasian.
Black = African American, Hispanic = Hispanic (obviously.), and Asian = Oriental. That's how the modern day society views it and that's how it will stay. Therefore, if none of those terms apply to them, they would mark of Caucasian, which would make a LOT of sense.
