And John Mayer doesn't think that's fair!

Dear Dallas and Surrounding Areas,
This isn't a sports blog, and it isn't a publicity stunt. (but have at me if it feels right.)
This is about doing what I think is right as a person, in this case speaking my mind.
I have never known anyone to have more pride in their home state and their upbringing in it than Jessica Simpson has in Texas. I don't really follow sports, but I have played some of my biggest and best concerts in your state, and having witnessed how dynamic the spirit there is, I'm betting emotions are running high right about now.
All witty barbs, blogs, and fashion policing aside, that girl loves Texas more than you know. It's one of her most defining traits as a person. So please don't try and take that away from her. (You probably wouldn't be able to, but it's less work for all involved.)
I just thought it would mean something coming from the guy who has the absolute least to gain from this. And if I'm out of line in having written it, too bad. I can spare a Wednesday's worth of bad press if it means sticking up for a good soul.

My roomate is a HUGE Cowboys fan and during the game I was in my bedroom. I was in no mood to hear someone scream at the t.v. like a deranged lunatic. Toward the end of the game I came out and he gave me the summary and we both concluded that game had to be fixed. And he even said watch stupid fucking people are gonna start blaming Jessica. The fact is the players missed a lot of catches and the ref's took a couple of touchdowns back and at one point Dallas had 30 flags and Giants had 2. Plus in the first half the Cowboys were kicking ass and all of a sudden the Giants turn it around even though Dallas beat them twice during the regular season?

Here's the deal…no one in Dallas really thinks Jessica is to blame for the loss. The Cowboys OBVIOUSLY were not as prepared as they should have been. Romo didn't play horribly…as TO said, it was a team loss (Crayton, anyone?).
The point is, Jessica showed her ass, invited public scutiny, and has brought this ridicule on herself. Even if the Cowboys had won Sunday, she would have still been ridiculed by Dallasites for being an idiot, and the fan base would still be questioning Romo's taste in girlfriends.
Romo's public image was that of a down-to-Earth, nice, "normal" Midwestern guy who loved the game, lived in an apartment with his friend from college, and hung out at local establishments (albeit in Addison). All of a sudden he's in bed with the Simpson publicity machine? This spectacle goes against everything the fans thought they knew about (and admired about) Tony Romo.
Sorry to keep posting, but I'm very passionate about my hometown and the Cowboys. It's a disgrace that the Simpsons have become such a huge part of the Cowboys story. They are not a great representation of Dallas. Dallas is such a great town…a cool, artsy, cultured, diverse town.
