Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee wants to change the constitution.
Why?
Because "God" is not happy with it.

"I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution," Huckabee told a Michigan audience on Monday. "But I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living god. And that's what we need to do — to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards so it lines up with some contemporary view."
Huckabee also wants to amend the Constitution to prevent children born in the U.S. to illegal aliens from automatically becoming American citizens - a radical step no other major presidential candidate has embraced.

I am deeply hurt by all of the horrible things that I have read about illegal immigrants. I am proud to have parents who were once illegal immigrants. This country has so many great opportunities to offer and I am so lucky to be here. It's sad that many of you are quick to judge and STEREOTYPE immigrants. My mom has never taken welfare, medicare, or any government aid program ever–despite the fact that she more than qualifies for it. She takes on many jobs to be able to support her kids as a single mother. Whenever one of us needed medical attention she paid cash, which is very expensive to do, so people please stop generalizing.
If you're born in America and reside there then you should be an American citizen regardless of where your parents came from. How the hell do you think our ancestors became citizens? Come on people, that's just common sense.

I agree with not allowing persons automatic right to citizenship in the USA. As an American, living in the UK, and about to have a baby there, my child will NOT be a UK citizen. There is no automatic right in many countries, why should we have it?
I will say that although I will go Dem before I would EVER vote for Xuckabee, I do think that the illegal immigration issue is a hot topic and one that needs to be addressed fully by our next leader.

That law in the Constitution was designed for former slaves after the Civil War when people wanted to ship them all back to Africa, because they were afraid of the voting/financial block they created.

I am in LA for at 6 months of the year and it's a PAIN IN THE ASS for anyone getting US visas, all because of so many bullshitters and illegals being around, especially in California. Whenever I'm at a bus stop somewhere in LA and somebody comes over and asks whether their bus has gone past yet, half the people waiting don't speak a word of English and it's shocking to know that these people are all actually US citizens. IF YOU COME TO AMERICA, LEARN TO SPEAK THE LANGUAGE! We should also have tighter laws in the UK, as it's a lot worse here and it's a small, overcrowded island compared to the United States.

I absolutely agree with him about the citizenship issue. We are one of the only countries that allows children of ILLEGAL immigrants to automatically be US citizens. Other countries REQUIRE at least one of the parents to be in the country LEGALLY. If we take away this right, along with all of the other incentives like free health care and reduced college tuition, the number of illegals crossing the border will be dramatically reduced.
