Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee wants to change the constitution.
Why?
Because "God" is not happy with it.

"I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution," Huckabee told a Michigan audience on Monday. "But I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living god. And that's what we need to do — to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards so it lines up with some contemporary view."
Huckabee also wants to amend the Constitution to prevent children born in the U.S. to illegal aliens from automatically becoming American citizens - a radical step no other major presidential candidate has embraced.

Ah, another person who listens to the pundits instead of reading a history book.
The phrase "separation of church and state" is nowhere to be found in the US Constitution.
If you do learn about history you'll find (just to mention of few):
* the Declaration of Independence mentions God several times.
* the liberty bell has a Bible verse written on it
* the original constitutions of all 50 states mention God
* the founding fathers of this great country frequently quoted Bible verses in their official writings.
The constitution states that the government cannot interfere with religion. It places restrictions on government, not religion.

Every country in Europe has gotten rid of the the laws that allowed children born to illegal immigrants to be born as citizens just by being born on their soil. The last country in Europe with these laws was Ireland and they got rid of them years ago. The U.S. is basically the last country to have them and frankly, the fact that some tourist on vacation could go into early labor and have her child automatically declared a citizen is ridiculous.

Children born to illegal aliens in virtually ALL nations are not made automatic citizens. This policy in the US has overwhelmed border hospitals and decimated the funding and functioning of hospitals in south Texas, California, New Mexico and Arizona. Just because a baby is born here should NOT make them a citizen because it has ruined health care for citizens in the southern border states. Period. We need to align with the other developed countries policies. We can't be that generous anymore. Close the borders for 5 years and sort it out.

Re: DUMB A** MOTHER-FOO – The constitution is set up to protect the church from the state, not vice-versa. It's freedom of religion that the founding fathers were trying to protect, which is now being attacked in the guise of "separation of church and state."
They didn't want a state religion (like the Church of England), but neither did they want religion taken out of government. Washington had the Continental Congress declare national days of prayer.
What's scary to me isn't Huckabee, it's his followers. It's not the leaders that end up the problem, it's the people that follow them so blindly, latching onto a leader for one sole reason. Regardless of whether or not you're religious, homosexual, democrat or republican, you have to really look at what is being said. In a country where you have the right to practice any religion freely and without persecution, his attempts to "amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards" will only tarnish the freedom we so often take for granted. This is not a country full of people of one religion, it's fully of many, with people from all over the world, different cultures, races, preferences, and ALL of us are lucky that we're allowed to be just that. I'm curious if those who would vote for Huckabee would so easily vote for someone that is hoping to change the Constitution in order to better live up to the standards of another religion's God. I doubt it. There simply shouldn't be the threat, to any group of people, to any religion, not in this country.
