That was quick!
Chris Daughtry is doing damage control over his harsh criticism of American Idol.
The singer just posted the following on his official blog:

It's so sad that when you're asked something and you answer honestly….you're made out to be the bad guy. Yes, I'm referring to the Rolling Stone post. The funny thing is, if you heard the whole conversation you would've heard all the good things I said about the show as well. Like for instance: How it's an amazing platform to launch a career….."If you take it seriously!!!!" Let's not forget I was a struggling artist for 11 years that never got any respect or notoriety so know that I'm eternally grateful for the opportunity that Idol gave me. And that's where my comments came from. It all started when the interviewer (who was great by the way) asked me where the "Idol stigma everyone talks about" comes from. Ya know….the reason people never take anyone from the show serious in the real world and why people say "oh they came from AI, they're not real artists." So, I answered that I don't feel that enough "artists" try out for the show because of how many people they focus on that are obviously there for comedic and entertainment value. And when you focus enough on people that aren't serious about it then it's hard for the audience to take you as an artist serious. And it's also hard as a potential contestant to think it's a good way to get seen because you're afraid of being made a joke of. I also said I think it's AWESOME that they are letting the contestants play their own instruments and that I feel that will show something in the contestants that people (the audience) never get to see….but that wasn't printed. My long winded point is this….I was never trying to "DISS" the show or "BITE THE HAND THAT FED ME" so to speak. I was simply giving my input on what I think would spice the show up a bit.

How was he NOT sticking by what he said? He simply exposed Rolling Stone magazine for taking the comments out of context. He originally both praised and critisized the show, and that's exactly what he's saying right here.
Daughtry is just damn lucky there was an American Idol, because without it, he wouldn't have a snowball's chance in hell of being a star. His voice is a derivative of thousands of other "rockers" that pollute the airwaves
Hey Daughtry…welcome to Kelly Clarkson's world baby. She forgot to thank Idol in her Grammy award speech and was ridiculed by every loser out there for it (Perez was one of them I'm sure). Good for you to speak your mind!
Chris is exactly right about Idol! Look at all the recent winners that have been dropped by their label and all the other idol finalists that you don't even remember anymore…He has true talent and great music that has shown the test of time and received awards. The album is still on the top of the billboards. He has always been a very gracious musician. Don't try to twist this into something that it isn't.

You're calling me dumb and you can't even find some quoted words from what Daughtry originally said to Rolling Stone? AND, he said something similar once again today: "CHRIS DAUGHTRY: After going for so long, who else [laughs] is out there that still wants to get on the show?"

BTW - Chris was living at home with his family and in highschool at 15, and not even a bit interested in being in or starting a band.
Chris makes a really good point. Too bad the mag edited around his comments to sell their magazine.
Lay off Chris. He's just being honest –and I don't think he ever had to say sorry for his comments muchless "shove his tail between his legs." He knows where his success was springboarded from and if he wouldn't have been on AI he'd probably still be in NC.

hahahaha! It gets even better! Daughtry had yet another interview with RS trying to redeem himself (after calling the AI producers and grovelling to them). Once again he has proven how incredibly DUMB he is - he just hammered the last nail into his career's coffin.

I guess he wasn't worried about the whole "being honest" thing when he was cheating on his wife with a teenager at one of his concerts. Shocking.

I hate it when people like Daughtry bitch about "the Idol stigma." If you wanted real respect, you would have busted your ass for years while building a dedicated following. Daughtry went on a game show, and didn't even win that. It's like a lottery winner who whines that they don't get the same respect as Warren Buffett or Bill Gates over how they gained their wealth.

Sounds to me like he was joking with the "who else is out there". And considering the Rolling Stone tends to take what people say out of context, it doesn't mean shit. But the fact remains the quality of the contestants has been going DOWN over the years, despite thousands of people auditioning only a very few have enough talent to make it to the big time. Most people are just deluding themselves.
And why do you need to be in a band to be an artist? You're trying to hard.

FUCK HIM! I have been a fan of AI since season one. Okay-so what that several AI artists were dropped from their respective labels. Um..could it be that they just recorded bland music? Why blame the show? Machine gun vibrato Chris Daughtry would BE A FUCKING NO BODY WITHOUT AI!!! Period.

Hey, everyone lay off of Chris, he was just being honest about the show. Last year, was one of the worst shows of AI. They had Sanjaya and that girl who couldn't sing worth crap but had nice legs. He's just simply giving his opinion on a show that is going down season by season. And no!!!! he did not put his tail between his legs!!! I'm a Daughtry FAN for life!!!! I luv him for being an honest artist!!! Besides he's also hot!!!!!!!!!!!!
Has anyone here ever auditioned? He is right, do you know what they do? They look over good singers, just so they can put the strange looking people who can't sing through so we can all laugh and roll our eyes and be entertained because the auditions are probably the most popular part of the show!
These people wait in line..ligitimate talented people, but if they don't have the right look, then the producers(who by the way they audition for before they even see randy and paula and simon) will take the guy in a clown suit in front of them because he looks stupid. It's sickening..and then if you watch the auditions you can see how much of a joke it is. I mean look, they will tell someone who can sing but isn't PERFECT that they are ALMOST there and maybe next time. Then someone who can't sing at all but got in a car accident and has had a tough year they will say"eh, why not, your going to hollywood". WHAT?!?!?
I think the saddest part is that everyone always thinks "How can these people think they sound good?" You know why? Because the producers let them through to see Randy and Paula and Simon, so they assume that the producers think they can sing. When in reality, the producers know that we will get chuckle out of seeing a guy with a mohawk who sounds like a smurf. It's sad what they do to these people.
Chris is a great person- just being honest and what he said was taken out of content to make him look bad . He's been true to himself and his fans- AI did not have much success with 2006 ( outside of Chris) and 2007. The record companies have cancelled contracts with Taylor Hicks, Kat McPhee, Bucky of 2006 and Jordin Sparks and Blake of 2007. Chris is doing terrific - close to 4,000,000 albums sold - love him and his band. Funny how this idiot for this article failed to mention the post Chris said about "Boey" Byers about her passing away a couple weeks ago. Boey fought a rare childhood cancer and died from complications from pneumonia, she was an avid Chris fan and Chris met her in person. He also helps homeless children, and has done charity events for them.
So, all of this gossip and BS is unwarranted by the writer on this site or Rolling Stones. Chris won't be a phony - and he gets along well with Simon, Paula and Randy. There are enough kissbutts in this industry, nice to see someone be straight-up and still respectful , if the story was printed in full. So shove your tail in shame.
