Degrassi: The Next Generation star Adamo Ruggiero has come out of the closet!
In an exclusive interview with eTalk, the Canadian actor reveals that he is gay, just like his character - Marco - on the hit teen show.
"I didn’t plan it that way… maybe it’s life imitating art, Ruggiero tells eTalk. "Degrassi let me do something real and I kindof feel like I’m living proof of what the show was working to accomplish."

My gaydar went off years ago…I guess all the Canadians knew by seeing him around, but he actually never said to the media. So that's why it's "big effing news". It's not like he just became gay now, it's because he said it in an interview.
I watch Degrassi and I'm older than anyone on that show but it's a great show, so why not. In Canada being gay is no big deal. It's only Americans who get all freaked-out for nothing. The world has changed people, it's not 1950's anymore. (well, outside the bible belt) Gay life in Canada ROCKS, so I'm sure it won't make much difference here. I wanna read the Fab magazine issue he's in and see what he has to say. I live in Toronto near Mollywood (the Gay Village) and I've never seen him around, I need to get out more. lol

Re: Erica – i've heard of 'my-so-called-life' but never watched it. believe me. back track to the episode where snake and spike first got together and then emma and manny 'wanted to crash' the party. well, jimmy and spinner were suppose to do a break dance duo together, and spinner pretty much sucked… so jimmy switched spinner's track and spinner took jimmy's bag… in the end they were sitting on the bus stop and marco walks by with the girls and spinner said something about "and marco still won.. blah blah" something like tht… sorry for the super long story… but i def. know my degrassi… and i know it wasn't THAT show because i've never seen it.
