I really enjoyed Laguna Beach so was looking forward to seeing this show. It was so booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooring I struggled to watch. Hi from little old England.

I'm a UK citizen that has transplanted to the US years ago. I can't believe how ugly you UK people are getting in putting down the US……You can't judge a country by one show. Even a lot of us over here think the Hills is stupid shit. It's not like we all love it and watch it religiously. To be honest, having lived in both places I like the US better and most of you all probably would too–the weather is a damn sight better that's for sure. C4/E4 say that before most reality tv shows. I think The Hills is well funny too watch because it looks kinda unrealistic.
The only reality tv show I thought was a big pile of crap was the UK's version of Laguna Beach (Living on the Edge) because it looked fake and the girls look like they had never heard of a hairbrush AHAHA. Seriously if America gets Living on the Edge I feel sorry for them.

I was watching The Hills (Season 1) On channel 4 this morning and i was made up to be watching it because it was the first episodes of the first season which I havnt watched for a while and lauren looks pretty back then with blonder hair, I just had to say it!

But yeah put it in this way, The show is about Lauren Conrads life. In any normal persons life something dramatic or fun or something exciting to watch does NOT happen every day! I mean yeh somethings do but comeon they have to stage some of it for veiwing 'pleasure'. The show is related to laurens life, its her friends, her story line and its just somethings that r staged. I think its great i honesly dont care if theres some acting in it because its stil most of laurens life. I cant wait for the episodes in Spring even if they did cast the guy who takes her round paris. I'ts fun to watch and im a sucker for romance i love it!

Don't be so patronizing cos us "poor Brits" do not believe everything, infact we are less media obsessed and reliant that the USA! The truth is that Channel 4 need to air the disclaimer as british TV laws are extremely tight and there have been a lot of OFCOM investigations recently.

They say that before some Kardashians episodes too and on E4 they had a whole season of "reality" shows with that disclaimer as a feature… Simple Life, Age of Love and Beauty and the Geek.

They're only being honest about it because UK tv networks have been in a LOT of shit lately for lying about phone in competitions and for misleading the public in certain reality shows. They're just covering themselves.
I think it's obvious when you watch The Hills that a lot of it is made up anyway though.

Programming in the UK is not government run. The BBC is government funded via the TV license fee, which is well worth it when you consider the quality and variety of output the BBC produces. There are another three independed terrestrial channels, all of which have digital spin-offs (i.e ITV1,2,3&4). Then there is satellite tv (Sky) which brings a few hundererd other channels, also independent of government involvement.
Why are the Brits acting like Americans are new to reality tv? We know how reality tv works, and that it's not real. This is not news. We just don't need a disclaimer telling us what's going on.
Any proclamation of "Freedom" and the UK is a joke, as the number of honor killings rises everyday. Your country will be Afghanistan soon enough, unless y'all do something about it. But no, much rather scream about the US and how we're awful, while Arabs rape and torture innocents in Darfur. Stupid Liberal Brits.
