Elisabeth Hasselbeck Needs To Go Back To High School!
Filed under: Elizabitch HasselbeckSheri must be real happy Elizabitch is back on The View.
On Monday's episode, Hasselbeck had a hard time remembering who was granted the right to vote first - women or people of color.
Thankfully, Whoopi put her in her place.
Click here to check it out!
P.S. Rosie must be laughing her ass off…in a very ANNOYING way.
Update: Whoopi was wrong?
Maybe we all could use a little history lesson!

NIGGAS STILL SHOULD'NT BE ABLE TO VOTE!
NIGGAS STILL SHOULDN'T BE ABLE TO VOTE!
NIGGAS STILL SHOULDN'T BE ABLE TO VOTE!
NIGGAS STILL SHOULDN'T BE ABLE TO VOTE!
NIGGAS SHOULD STILL BE IN THE FIELDS PICKIN COTTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TOO BAD stupid elizabeth couldn't stick to her guns. this was one of the rare times when ELIZABETH was CORRECT.
WHOOPI WAS WRONG.
whoopi just looooooves to play that race card, doesn't she.
get these idiots off tv.
Elizabeth is absolutely right! But because she isn't well liked we WANT her to be wrong and call her stupid, when in reality who is wrong and stupid here? It is Whoopie (who I personally love) but all the same is dead wrong, but because she is liked we don't hold her accountable for getting her facts right! Of course the biggest MORON is Perez for posting this and not, given the facts, make Whoopie accountable in the same way, ie calling her names in banner headlines. We might not like her, might not like what she says or what she stands for, but she is very smart and has her facts straight most all of the time!
Whoopi was incorrect!
Re: Karen – It was NEVER revoked. Pick up a history book.
To be clear women were allowed to vote in 1920. Blacks were allowed to vote for a 12 year period during the 1800s but that was later repealed by the white folks. It wasn't until 1965???? that black people were officially allowed to vote like us whiteys. I'm kind of sure. . . .
Unfortunately this is the one time where Elizabeth is right. Black men could vote before women of any color, and the laws are seperated by about 50 years. This is probably the only time Elizabeth will be right about anything so she better enjoy it. Granted, there were several laws then in place to make it difficult for black to actually cast votes, but in the eyes of the Constitution, they had the right to do so before women.
blacks gained the right to vote after the civil war, women around the time of the first world war. in parts of the country it would have been very difficult to exercise this right, but yeah whoopi got it wrong.
What I was able to find shows that technically Elizabeth was correct. People of color were given the right to vote in 1870 and women were allowed to vote in 1920. The real issue is that the right to vote was not enforced until the 1960's for black people. I really would have thought that Whoopi would have known that…
DUH OMG BLACK PPL HAD THE VOTE WAY BEFORE WOMEN DID!! IT WAS JUST THAT NOT THAT MANY BLACK PPL COULD VOTE COS THEY HAD TO PASS LITARY TESTS COS OF THE JIM CROW LAWS!!!!
how about an apology to elisabeth, mario. the fact that u don't agree with her doesn't make her stupid. In fact she's much more educated and intelligent than you will ever be! She graduated from Boston College. Where did u go?
Elizabeth was right - black men were given the vote in 1870; women could not vote until well into the 20th century. I have a problem with Barbara Walters, a very important journalist, not knowing who voted first.
Black suffrage. On January 8, 1867, overriding President Johnson's veto, Congress granted the black citizens of the District of Columbia the right to vote
August 26, 1920
The Nineteenth Amendment –giving women the right to vote-is ratified
There's absolutely NO story here! I dont know who is more lame, you for trying to stir something up or the morons who ate up your drivel and jumped in to post, HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
l
NO Whoopi was not wrong…. While the 15th amendment granted black men the right to vote … states created laws that required them to pass literacy tests in order to vote… or you were required to pay poll taxes.. In other words, some states tried to work ways around giving black men the freedom to vote like their white counterparts… preventing many people of color to FREELY vote in ALL states because thy knew that many blacks were poor and illiterate. It wasn't until the 1960's when the Voting Rights Act made it illegal to require literacy tests that many blacks were able to acheive what the 15th amendment provided for in all 50 states. Women were granted the right to vote in 1920, nearly 50 years after the 15th amendment, but if you were white chances are you had an education of some sort which meant you did not face the same issues as black men. Hasselback was "technically" right… but Whoopi's sort of right too…
Elizabeth was right. Damn did no one pay attention in class?
Poor Lucy Stone
Re: Truthbetold – ___agree,,,,,,,,sad but true, black women, hate & i mean hate white women, she attacked Elizibeth,,, the poor girl didn't even know she was actually right,,,, blacks do it all the time,,, they love being "right" so much… that they miss the point……… Drama…. mexicans, asians, whites & towelheads, can co-exist, negros luvz the drama!!!
woopi is a fucking moron
I like Elizabeth…… some of her views are a bit off in my opinion, but not everyone can be a democrat:P However she was right Blacks got the right to vote in 1867 (it was not taken away, how ever there were poll taxes a and literacy test which made it unfair). Women got the right it vote in 1920….. Indians got the right to vote in 1924. The poll taxes were abolished in the 1960's.
okay…so didn't it go blacks, women, revocation of Jim Crow laws…technically - i think they could both use a little bit of a history lesson
Whoopi was wrong. Black Men could vote before any woman ever could. It pains me to say this, but Elizabitch was right.
Unfortunately Elizabeth is right in theory. Black men were Constitutionally given the right to vote before women. But because of various Jim Crow laws and other roadblocks Black men were very seldom able to exercise this right. Shame on so many of us for not knowing these facts especially on MLK JR. day and during such an important presidential election.
You should really look up your history before making an ass clown statement. Perhaps your hatred for anything conservative overshadows your ability to research. Whoopi made a mistake - she was on live TV. You have no excuse.
while the 15th amendment of 1870 technically allowed black people to vote there were many barricades that were created to keep them from actually voting. these included the need to pass a literacy test, which was unfair since the literacy rate was much higher among white people as most blacks did not have the resources for educational advancement that whites did. in some cases the test would have to be taken by people who did not have a grandfather who had voted. as this was rare for black people during this time, they would be forced to take the test, which was said to be so difficult many educated people would fail. (similar to the test that must be taken to become american citizens today - it is quite hard, and many people who were born here would not pass - which can be noted by how many of us have confused our own voting history).
women gained the right to vote in 1920 with the 19th amendment, and while some black men had had the right to vote since 1870, their right to vote was not widely recognized and practiced until the civil right act of 1964.
so, depending on how you look at it both statements could be right.
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 barred unequal application of voter registration requirements, thus finally allowing blacks to vote freely.
How embarrassing! Everyone knows that women were the last to be given the vote! That is why when Hillary campaigns with her mother (who was born before women had the right to vote) it is very touching.
It will be interesting to hear how Whoopi apologizes to Elizabeth. I am not a fan AT ALL of Elizabeth or her politics, but this time she was right.
Actually whoopi was both wrong and right–the 15th amendment allowed black men to vote after the end of the civil war, and women were not allowed to vote until the 1920s. however, numerous laws, especially in the south, kept black men from voting up until the mid-20th century (for example, the grandfather clause, which kept anyone whose grandfather had not been allowed to vote from voting. as most blacks' grandfathers had been slaves, this kept them from being allowed to vote). so elisabeth is wrong in that we are "less racist" than sexist because we let blacks vote first–since there were a lot of loop holes KEEPING blacks from voting. but whoopi is also wrong, since black men were technically allowed to vote before women. basically we are racist and sexist. but prob more racist.
HAHA, Perez you're such a loser. You surely need a history lesson!
Re: samjd – sorry, my bad.
Re: Amy – # 302–Thank you. That is worth repeating.
IT DOESN MATTER WHO GOT TO VOTE FIRST..ONLY WHITE MEN RUN THIS PLACE AND WHITE WOMEN ARE BETTER OFF THAN BLACKS (NO MATTER WHAT SEX)…….AMERICA IS JUST FUCKING PREJUDICE..NO WONDER OSAMA HATES U MAOWFUCKERS…HE IS COMING FOR YOUR RED NECKS CUNTS
Re: Mike – True…while blacks were given the right to vote earlier than women, there were laws in place to ensure that they would not be able to exercize that right, for example…while whites only had to sign their names, blacks were subject to such disfranchising laws like poll taxes, literacy tests, vouchers of "good character," and disqualification for "crimes of moral turpitude." These laws were "color-blind" on their face, but were designed to exclude black citizens disproportionately by allowing white election officials to apply the procedures selectively…it wasn't until 1965 when Presiden Lyndon Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act that all blacks were able to register to vote without the special loopholes that had previously kept them excluded…
We demand a CORRECTION Perez! Fix your headline NOW.
technically, Elizabeth was right…..the constitution gave black men the right to vote in the 1860s, a half century BEFORE women could vote, in the 1920's…. what Whoopie may have been talking about was the fact that southern states tried to prevent blacks from voting until the 1960's…they had the right to vote but couldn't exercise it until then.
Gawd, I am SO glad that Whoopi is wrong! I can't stand that bitch. She thinks she knows everything, but guess what? Elisabeth was right!!! LMAO!!!! Suck it, Whoopi!
Oh, and Perez, you're a dumb fuck too for thinking Whoopi was right. Retard.
Perez and Whoopi need to go back to high school! Why the hate, Perez? You might wanna go ahead and change the headline for this before you confuse everyone. YOU were wrong and WHOOPI was wrong. Elisabeth was right. And made to look like a moron over something she was right about.
Re: me –
WOW you're way off…take a history class. Blacks were given the vote with the 15th amendment but their ownership of land had no bearing on that right in the constitution and their vote definitely DID NOT count as 1/3 of a vote..you're clearly getting confused with the 3/5 compromise which was way before the 15th amendment when slavery was still legal..it stated that every 5 black slaves counted as 3 "people" when population was taken into account for representation in the House of Reps. Also, the blacks' right to vote was never "taken away".. there were Jim Crow Laws in the south which made it hard to vote what with the grandfather clause and poll taxes, intelligence tests, etc but there were certainly blacks in the north, and in the south, who voted. The voting rights act of the 60s reinforced and protected Blacks' right to vote..but never was it taken away. So before you start calling people idiots, learn something, or at least know what you're talking about. Seems like at least the "dumb blonde republican" knew the Constitution's history..and isn't it funny how the black woman did not know her own..
What is really sad is that racists like Joy and Whoopi — and people like them — are continually given a platform to air their racist views. Allowing racists to define what constitutes "racism" (or sexism, for that matter) will only continue to foster confusion and hatred, and perpetuate the popular myths they espouse.
I love how so many of you are talking about what a dumbass Elizabeth is here when she's actually the one that is right. Jump on the fucking bandwagon much? Idiots. I don't even like the bitch, but at least roast her for saying something stupid, instead of for being misinformed yourselves.
Re: Whatever – not only was Whoopi wrong, but she was so damned condescending, it was pathetic…
technically the constitution says that black suffrage was amended before women's suffrage. but women technically got to vote if they or their husbands owned land before black people got to vote. so they were both right in a way.
WISH I WAS THE FIRST TO SCREW ELISABETH.
Blacks received the right to vote in 1870; women received the right to vote in 1920. Elizabeth is correct.
Re: costamesaboy –
Yes. That is why they should all be rounded up and shipped to their own island, could be Africa, but stay there, where they can all rape, rob and kill each other instead of living in a domesticated society and attacking/damaging civilian society! Can you imagine if there were no blacks in our society? Crime rate down, murder down, baby daddys down, fugliness down, gdp up, dollar value up, need I go on?
Fagez and all his moronic minions need to shut the f*ck up when it comes to thinking they have a clue. Can't wait to see Whoopi give an apology tomorrow. FYI for all you Perez haters be on the look out for new site: Marioiswrong.net which will take a daily look at how dumb Perez is in his postings each day…it's one thing to be ignorant fat man but another thing to be a what you are: a lier, cheat, and fraud.
normally i dont care for/ not care for whoopi but today she proved she is an idiot and a black retard.
she just had to try and call out elisabeth and had to say it in such a "im fucking right im black i know everything" attitude when in fact she is WRONG. what an idiot.
i say white people get a day off for all of our founding fathers of america who were majority white-a white entertainment tv show (WET) haha and special admissions into universities, an aisle in the grocery store for white people hair products, etc.
racist? i think we know it's not just white people. wake up and smell the truth america, it's time we took back our nation from illegal immigrants and politically correct racial bullshit.

my masa don't eva lets me do no votin. He be wippin' me real bad if i eva talks like dat. I gots to get off of dis website & get to pickin me sum cotton before masa find out!

um….yeah blacks where given the vote first people! Okay after the civil war slaves were granted citizenship, however this did not always involve the right to vote…thus the 15th amendment was passed in 1870 stating that race could not be used in denying voting rights. Women weren't given the vote until 1920…50 years later. People are confusing the constitution and rights with what was called "Jim crow laws". This is when people, mainly in the south, made rules and laws about voting to keep black men away from the polls.
Black men were given the right to vote in the 15th Amendment, whereas women were given the vote in the 19th Amendment. Although many black men were unable to vote due to other state laws (primarily in the South), they gained the Constitutional right to vote before women did.
I think it is interesting how you libs are so eager to attack someone who doesn't believe what you believe that you are so willing to overlook the truth.
For those of you who missed it - 15th Amendment was radified in 1870 that gave black men the right to vote and the 19th Amendment was ratified in 1920 giving women the right to vote.
Republican For Perez - Despite his Dumbassery
Re: THE WORLD IS FLAT –
Blacks are morons????? Are you serious? How could you be so prejudice and shallow? What level of education did you achieve?
Blacks might have been given the right to vote first (technically) but there was so much stipulations to prevent this from happening that they had to reinforce the ability for blacks to vote in 1965.
The eighteenth-century Scottish historian Alexander Tytler (might have) said: "A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until a majority of voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse out of the public treasury."
"The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter."
— Winston Churchill
Blacks were given the right to vote BEFORE WOMEN. Whoopi is 100% WRONG and is pretty defensive about it!
The Fifteenth Amendment created a right for people regardless of race or color, however through various legal tactics, such as Jim Crow laws, grandfathering, and other means such as literacy tests, blacks were still being prohibited, in legal ways, from voting. It wasn't until the Voting Rights Act in 1965 that these means of preventing blacks were delineated and made illegal. Therefore, in this case, white women received a right to vote with the Nineteenth Amendment that was ratified in 1920. Women were not included in the Fifteenth Amendment.
Therefore, from all legal perspectives, blacks were not legally permitted to vote in some areas until 1965 due to legal ways of dissuading or prohibiting them from voting.
BTW - you know tomorrow whoopi is going to have an explanation for her answer saying oh well we did, but it was revoked, we really didn't have the full right til blah blah blah
again, the tyranny of idiocy. you fools think just because one has a right to vote that the establishment will enforce that right? well, why did a whole nubian nation get oppressed for nearly another 100 years? don't believe the hype. tell the vanilla cookie to get into the real world. just because it says it doesn't mean its true. remember weapons of mass destruction? you are nothing but a bunch of lemmings and pawns of the media and the ruling class.
Hopefully this country won't elect a black OR a woman.
first off elisabeth was right and is smarter than most of the women on that show and is married to a nfl player and is gorgeous. so i think the people that hate her are a tad jeaouls.
First the history lesson -
1868 the 14th Amendment is added granting Black men the right to vote. However, state officials deny this right by various means.
1870 the 15th Amendment is ratified granting Black men the right vote, with the added phrasing which prohibits state and local government from denying the right to vote.
1890 Wyoming is the first state to recognize women's right to vote and provide for it in a state constitution.
1920 the 19th Amendment was ratified to the Constitution, giving ALL women across the nation the right to vote.
Side note - while black men were granted the right before women… it must be noted that Jim Crow laws along with a openly hostile environment prevented black men and women from voting until as recently as 1965. There were poll taxes, literacy tests, and other obstacles that were unofficially sanctioned on the state and local government.
Please remember before you post something mean and racist that no one is perfect. We all make mistakes and EVERY race has uneducated, ignorant, evil people who do evil things. By saying that one race is better than another, you are only contributing to the problem, not the solution. Please respect Dr. King's memory and stop the madness.
Signed,
Your Bi-Racial Beauty who's married to the BEST Englishman around.
Although the 15th Amendment was passed first, blacks still did not really have the right to vote, because of literacy tests, and grandfather clauses. The 15th amendment was really just for show in terms of voting. The grandfather clauses stated that previous generations of your family had to vote for you to be allowed to, but if you were black it was previously illegal to vote so despite the 15th amendment you still could not vote. Or you could take a literacy test but most slaves were not permitted access to books or education, thus could not read well enough to pass the test. So women did in fact get the right to vote first.
no whoopi was correct. women had the right to vote before blacks
People need to stop saying that black men were given the right to vote and then it was "taken away". It was never taken away, the US just had a bunch of ignorant polititians who created a bunch of ridiculous laws, or outright threats, to keep black men from voting. Personally, I feel that both sex and race are still huge issues in the US, which means that black women probably have it worse than anybody.
The fourteenth Amendment granted black men the right to vote after the Civil War. However, in the South there were many laws and regulations such as the Black Codes and the famous Jim Crowe Laws which oppressed black people. These laws require literacy tests and the "grandfather clause" to vote, which made it impossible for many former slaves to vote. Hence, black people before women.
I watched the view while she was gone and it was so refreshing..she is too young to be talking about most topics on the view……she needs to stay home and take care of her kids!
Re: me – hmmmm……you have alot of nerve to be calling people idiot there moron…..go back to the history books.
It amazes me how ignorant and inaccurate the comments are relating to this topic. You, Perez, and many of your uneducated readers need to go back and read your history books relating to voting rights. Read, think and then comment. Do not fear education – it can only help you.
Yeah, we fucking get it! You stupid fucks who think they are so smart to post the same info that about 200 other people have posted! Shut the fuck up, we get it already! And yes, Hasslecunt it a dangerous, stupid bitch who is contaminating the airwaves! I bet she's right there with Huchafuck and wants to change the Constitution to force this country into becoming a Christian only nation! Fuck them! If they try it, I'll mark on Washington with torch in hand! AND SHUT THE FUCK UP AND QUIT REPOSTING WIKI SHIT ABOUT WHO WAS FIRST! WE GET IT ALREADY!
found this for you all…by the end of 1867, almost 735,000 Blacks registered in the southern states while about 635,000 white names were on the voters list. Voting was restricted to men, but women and children took part in political events.
there is no older, deeply rooted, pervasive, pernicious oppression than sex-based difference (gender)
love u perez
Black men were given the right to vote in 1869 by the 15th Amendment. Women, of either color, were not granted suffrage until 1919 by the 19th Amendment. Whoppi is an idiot
Black men were given the right to vote in 1869 by the 15th Amendment. Women, of either color, were not granted suffrage until 1919 by the 19th Amendment. Whoopi is an idiot
Actually Perez, Elisabeth (as much as I hate to admit it) was correct. Black men were able to vote as early as the 1870's - in fact, before the end of Reconstruction some black officials had already been elected to office. Even after Reconstruction was abandoned some black men (as long as they fulfilled several jim crow laws) were still allowed to vote several decades earlier than women. Women were not given the right to vote until the 20th century.
I'm not a fan of Elisabeth, but in terms of actual history, she was right. However, Whoopi still has a point that although legally black people had the vote before women, practically they could rarely assert that right.
If I can recall correctly, blacks (men only) were given the right to vote in 1870 w/ the ratification of the 15th Amendent whereas women were given the right to vote in 1920 under the 19th Amendment. I'm going to go "google it" to make sure…..
WOMEN COULD NATIONALLY VOTE IN 1920. AFRICAN AMERICANS COULD NATIONALLY VOTE WITHOUT ANY DETERANCE FOLLOWING THE 1965 VOTING RIGHTS ACT
What is whoopi stupid? African American men voted before woman. Ah duh
Blacks got the federal right to vote in the 15th Amendment in 1870. Women had to wait 50 years later to get the vote in the 19th Amendment. But in practice, states still attempted to limit the blacks' right to vote. So, they were both sort of right.
Either way, neither of them knows what the hell they're talking about and they should just shut up. I don't know why they think they are qualified to talk about these issues.
Re: alexia – You're wrong. The end.
As much as it pains me to say - Elisabeth was right.
Blacks were given the right to vote in 1870. However, the south got away with denying the right by applying a poll tax. Eventually, that was scrapped. Women, didn't get the federal right until 1920.
Looks like Whoopi needs a history lesson!
yea, read the update! African American men actually DID get the right to vote LONG before women. (Like 1869 or something like that and women didn't get the vote until 1920). Granted a bunch of other laws (Jim Crowe) prevented from African American men from actually using their right to vote (literacy laws and such) so in a way, they didn't really get their right to vote until much later than women were allowed to vote. Either way, duh, what the real point here is that our government is a bunch of fucking idiots and people in America are racist AND sexist. Get over it. Kill ignorance not sex and color.
HAHAHA PEREZ AND ALL YOU FUCKING DEMOCRAT FUCKTARDS ON HERE ARE WRONG.
ELIZA"BITCH" KNOWS MORE THAN YOU FUCKING LIB-PEASANTS.
Re: Shamzy –
You.Are.An.Idiot. Women got sufferage in 1920, African Americans in 1870. Read a US history book before you comment. And it's spelled y'all not YALL. Thanks.
I HATE THAT Elizabitch SHE IS A BITCH WHORE SLUT
I HATE THAT Elizabitch SHE IS A BITCH WHORE SLUT
I HATE THAT Elizabitch SHE IS A BITCH WHORE SLUT
I HATE THAT Elizabitch SHE IS A BITCH WHORE SLUT
I HATE THAT Elizabitch SHE IS A BITCH WHORE SLUT
GET HER OUTTA THERE BITCH
yup…right after we heard whoppi correct her, we realized that whoopi was wrong and that elisabeth hasselbeck was right! maybe people should give her a little bit more credit!!
Fuck Elizabitch. She and her kind could leave the country and we'd all be better off.
Um, ELIZABETH is right. Women were unable to vote until 1920…get with it, people…19th amendment, well after african american men right to vote was the 15th amendment.
well whoopie was wrong! so someone is a moron for forgetting? how many people out there HONESTLT knew african americans could vote in 1868 and women in 1920? SURE……………..
YOU ALL NEED TO GET A GRIP
It's hard to convince people they are having a legitimately serious discussion with her present; she ruins the mood. It's like taking a 5 year old seriously if they started to discuss existentialism.
I HATE THAT ELIZABITCH!
Re: Truthbetold –
I am truly appalled by what I am reading right now. I don;t know where you come from or what fantasy land you live in, but blacks are not the reason for ALL the crime. Newsflash, some of the most heinous crimes have been committed by white people. Why would post something so racist on the ONE day that is supposed to be about racial reconciliation and forward movement within the country. Do me a favor and return to YOUR ancestors land, cause unless your Native American you do not belong here either. Oh wait, let me guess, your GREAT GREAT grandma was part cherokee… right?
Grow up and grow a pair you effin loser.
The 16th Amendment was passed in 1869, but most blacks couldn't freely vote for nearly another century because of poll taxes. So women could technically vote before blacks, but it wasn't until the 19th Amendment was passed in 1919 that women were legally allowed to vote.
I disagree with Elisabeth's conclusion. This doesn't have anything to do with whether or not the country is ready for a woman or a black man to be President in the year 2008.
Re: Samjd –
well not really…he kinda just brushed it off and didnt even apologize for publicly intimating that elizabeth was some kind of idiot or something
ROSIE IS NOT ANNOYING, love you PEREZ but ROSIE Is great
Re: Shamzy – The united states 19th constitution in 1920 gave women the right to vote.
actually elisabeth was right. Black MEN had the right to vote before any woman did…black or white women were not allowed to vote while black MEN (and white men) were allowed to vote.
Whoopi was wrong.
TECHNICALLY they are both right. African Americans were first allowed to vote in 1865. However until the Civil Rights movement, states passed laws that blocked many African Americans from being able to vote — so as African Americans were technically allowed to vote — it wasn't until the Civil Rights Movement when they actually took to the polls and all of the restrictions were removed. Women were able to vote in 1920.
Blacks right to vote - 15th Ammendment
Womens right to vote - 19th Ammendment
Technically, black men got the vote first. Other men of color were not necessarily included. In many places, this was merely symbolic as things such as polling tax and arbitrary literary requirements were put in place, as well as intimidation, to prevent blacks from voting. Women got the vote about half a century later.
Elizabeth was correct. Black men had the right to vote before women. The right was never taken away from black men. Blacks may have had trouble voting in some parts of the country. Later federal voting acts simply reaffirmed the rights they were granted after the Civil War. Blacks were impeded from voting with such actions as a poll tax, which was a purely southern phenomenon.
Please correct your error!!!
the 15th amendment was passed first then women's suffrage
whoppi is wrong. women didn't get the vote until the nineteenth amendment. MEN of color got the vote with the fourteenth/fifteenth
actually, black men were granted the right to vote before white women which sparked the women's suffrage movement so she is partially correct. therefore they argue gender oppression vs. racial oppression
