Roseanne Attacks Obama and Oprah - Again!

Filed under: Politik > Barack Obama > Oprah Winfrey > When Celebrities Blog > Hillary Clinton

roseeeannnne1__opt.jpg

She's at it again!

'80s sitcom star Roseanne has posted another shortsighted tirade on her blog.

This time, she says:

"oprah winfrey

has refused to do a show with the FIRST WOMAN candidate for President who has EVER won a primary election, in the history of the United States of America. I saw Hilary on the ridiculous tyra banks' show, and fumed. Hilary deserves to have been able to address the huge female demographic that Oprah's billions came from. How very disgusting, and how very very telling!! Maybe if Hilary was discussing her fat thighs Oprah would have had her on. Oprah doesn't really seem to respect the intelligence of her audience at all. Obama slaps the faces of his supporters with his traitorous praise of ronald reagan, the man who singlehandedly destroyed the working people, the economy, and the mental health safety net in this country, and told inner city kids that ketchup was a vegetable. I pray for the speedy failure of his divisive anti-feminist campaign. Oprah COULD HAVE delivered her viewers an audience with the most powerful and successful woman in American politics since Eleanor Roosevelt, and the only democratic candidate who has a prayer of winning this election at the most crucial time there has ever been in this country. I believe its she and David Geffen's plan to elect fellow billionaire Romney. This country's not going to elect a democrat who speaks well of republicans and reagan, like Barack Hussein Obama does. Wake Up! Diss-ing women's century-old fight for political representation of their voice makes me SICK!!! "

    205

It's interesting how all she cares about is that oooh you Have to vote for the female if you are female. This shows that the States still really only cares about gendre. what is so wrong with backing the candidate that you think will do the best job? Obama all the way. Enough with these "old money" families who are only out to satisfy their own personal agenda. Plus it's pretty pathetic that Hillary is just really riding her husbands popularity. If it was only about her, he would keep his face out of everything until election is over rather than going on record and bashing the competition to "support" his wife.

I think it would do some of you some good to take heed of what Rosie says. She is a pretty smart cookie. I am appauled at the fact that Oprah would not invite Hilary to a show myself. So, get some self respect and educate your selves to the real deal.

  7. Fan of hers too.... says – reply to this

    207

I've always liked Roseanne and agree with her statement whole heartly. Oprah lost my attention a long time ago, her show is fake and boring and is mainly for the female viewing audience and she's using her power with the housewives of America to endorse a presidential candidate who should not be in office. I'm not qualified to run for president, nor is Obama. Hilary has the experience, no matter what Oprah's viewers think. Black people would vote Bobby Brown in office if they could, just because he's black. Would America rather have a black man in office as president vs. a woman? Ew……how sad!

    Re: team obama
What did you expect from this lot? It's obvious that they did NOT do their research into Hillary or what Obama said.

  9. yoda says – reply to this

    209

You may not like her but she's exactly right about this. I tried to get on board with the Obama thing, but there is really no substance to his campaign and I will not vote for someone who spends so much time stroking Republicans. They have destroyed this country and they need to be eliminated from power, not flattered and coddled. If he really thinks he can "work with" them, he's very naive. They would politically destroy him if he actually became president.

    Hillary for President!

    210

Oprah doesn't have Hillary on her show because she is supporting OBAMA!

    Intelligent people = Conservatives.

Come on people! Rosanne is liberal and she can't even argue for the Dems correctly!

Let's just keep giving her attention….SHE WILL END UP PUSHING DEMS TO VOTE REPUBLICAN!

How stupid can people be to vote Hillary because they want a woman president. And how stupid for people to vote for OBAMA because he'd be the first black president.

I want a president that will be good for the country!

P.s. Perez…please do something with your hair. It sorta looks like Britneys! Let's go Metro

BOYCOTT OPRAH AND HER MANIPULATIVE AND SELF SERVING TACTICS .. RIGHT ON ROSIE

  17. Jenny says – reply to this

    217

Oprah had Bill Clinton on her show not too long ago discussing his book about Giving. I didn't get a chance to see it but always wondered if he was allowed to discuss his wife's run for the Presidency? Did Hillary have a cameo on that show even? This is kind of like how she had Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston on (with her cast of Friends) her show. Then, after the Pitt/Aniston split, she NEVER had Pitt or Angelina Jolie on her show, even though Jolie is doing peace work in Africa and around the world. What about having Pitt on to discuss follow up to his interest (stated on her show) in humanitarian work? He is now helping build homes in New Orleans.

The bottom line is that Oprah doesn't practice what she preaches: she is not tolerant of everyone; She had a major problem in late 2007 where she publically pushed Obama into running BEFORE she knew Hillary Clinton would run. What to do? She has to support the one she pushed into running.

  18. bdol78 says – reply to this

    218

It's unfair to the public to infer that the only way Hilary will win the election is by being on Oprah. Oprah is entitled to endorse whomever she likes, just like Rosanne or Perez is entitled to endorese whomever they choose. But to then judge someone as "right" or "wrong" by their choise in endorsement is democratically wrong, especially when you pass that judgement as "fact," which is what Roseanne is doing.

    225

I really find it interesting that when you are an African American, and you support another African American your racist, but when your white and you support 200 years of white candidates your just excercising your democratic beliefs. Oprah Winfrey from day one said that she was supporting Barack Obama because she lives in Chicago, Illinois and has watched with her own eyes the things that Obama has done to bring about change. She also said on Larry King Live that because she was supporting Obama, did not mean that she had anything negative to say about Hillary Clinton. Oprah has even recently had Bill Clinton on her show and he talked about Hilllary Clinton's campaign. The last time I checked the name of the show was the Oprah Winfrey show, she has no obligation to have anyone on her show that she does not want on it period. Hillary has been on Ellen, Tyra and many others. Roseanne is the sexist , racist because she is basically saying that because Hillary is a woman and because Oprah is a woman that Oprah should be supporting her. And that kind of thinking is as ignorant as Roseanne's rants!!!! How about supporting people because you like their ideas.

During the last presidential election, she had BOTH Bush and Gore…so why stop allowing the viewers to hear both sides NOW? Wow O, while I respect your decision to air what you wish on your show, you must understand the platform you present, allow your viewers to at least hear both sides!

    237

    Just sayin'….
She has a valid point. Oprah has a tremendous amount of power and though she has endorsed Obama, it would be nice to be balanced. I imagine that she actually might not be able to be subjective (she has vociferously endorsed another candidate, after all), but in many ways Oprah is her own universe, and we require mere networks to give equal time. She should strive for the highest ground, and that ground would be to put HRC on her show.

We need a voice like yours to counter the mainstream, idiot, corp. media-driven misogyny that pervades our culture. If you are a woman and have any ounce of self-respect–learn women's history–vote for Hillary and stop this feminist bashing. Feminists don't hate all men–we hate misogynists. There's a difference.

Perez, you totally missed the mark with this one. Never thought I would say this, but Rosanne is 100% right. I truly believe Oprah is pushing for him because she's sooo attracted to him. We could have our first woman president if Oprah stood behind Hillary. Not just because she's a woman, but because she's the right choice.

    Re: New York
Those are the closet hypocrites and closet racists speaking. The first ones to talk about reverse discrimination.

OH THEY ONLY SUPPORT HIM CAUSE HE'S BLACK!!!

But then they are white themselves and are supporting a white woman…….

I'm sorry, but I can't be the only one to see the hypocrisy in this. Perhaps, they are just calling others out to deflect from the reality that they are the ones actually voting based on gender/race.

And if you really want change, you'd go for the person who has new and fresh ideas. If Hillary wins, we are guaranteed 4 more years of Bill Clinton. That's not change, that's a dependency.

  48. agreed says – reply to this

    248

Does she have a big mouth and get on the nerves of almost everyone… YES! But the Roseanne makes a valid point. Oprah's main demographic is women. It seems odd she hasn't had her on her show. She IS the first female canidate to run, we are talking about making history here. She needs to take her lips off Barack's ass and start being a talk show host again, keep the politics with the politicans.

  51. Mwoe says – reply to this

    251

But in truth - Oprah had Rep. & Dem. candidates on her show to be fair. She loses her credibility as a media person when she chooses sides in this way. She can endorse candidates on her personal time, but sponsors are not paying for Obama's political advertisements. She's a greedy and sneaky person that should give all sides a fair shake. I'm not even sure I'm voting for Hilary and I find this behavior of Oprah's objectionable.

  52. eyes inside... says – reply to this

    252

If you are poor or middle-class — or if you care about someone who is poor or middle-class — your best bet is to NOT elect a "business as usual" candidate, ESPECIALLY not this time. Believe it: Hillary is just a female version of "business as usual" politician. And Edwards? Absolutely another "business as usual" candidate who will say ANYTHING to get elected. Do you really think these two care about the poor and the middle-class? It is dangerous to be naive about these two candidates — especially Hillary-the-Walmart-Board-member. Yes, the same Walmart who is making the Chinese RICH and at the same time more and more Americans become jobless and poor…. and the same Walmart that forces the mom & pop stores to close. I will not even get into (outsourcing) how many jobs that Americans used to have, but are now sent overseas… DO NOT FALL FOR IT. Not this time.

Hilary should be on Oprah. Big mouth Oprah is always squawking about women in power and how we should all stick together. You think she would want to expose herself and her audience to a very powerful woman no matter what her political views are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She always overtalks all of her guests anyway, maybe Hilary is better off not being on her onesided show.

  57. Shana says – reply to this

    257

Uh, Hillary wasn't the first woman to win a primary. Shirley Chisholm won the primary in New Jersey in 1972. And she was also the first black candidate to win a primary. Why does no one know this? Especially with all the "black" vs "woman" debate going on out there. Yeah, New Jersey wasn't as important or impressive as New Hampshire's primary but Hilary wasn't the "FIRST WOMAN candidate for President who has EVER won a primary election, in the history of the United States of America".

So it's not okay for Oprah to support a candidate because he is black but she should support Hillary because she is a woman? Right. As a woman, I myself am reluctant to vote for another woman who is relying on her husband's acheivements and stature to get elected. Seems like the antithesis of feminism to me. Also, is Roseanne is obviously a simple bitch to say that any remark that faintly praises a Republican is traitorous. Any student of history, liberal or conservative, could see that Reagan did change the direction of this country once he was elected, but whether it was a good or bad direction depends on your political persuasion.

    284

im sorry to say but it is true. Oprah should have had hilary on. she needs to push away her personal issues and remember that she is doing a television show….. US the viewers are the ones who have made her so successful so why is she refusing to allow Hilary on? this is huge people. some peopl dont get how huge it is to have a WOMAN actually having a fighting shot in this election…. Oprah is on such a high horse that she doesnt even associate her self with women any more. she thinks she is better. she acts like a pompus white man but then looks in the mirror and realizes that she is black so she supports the black man….. She needs to wake up. I think the public deserves information from all candidates and from the mass of viewers that she reaches, having all presidential candidates would have been wonderful education for those who normally wouldnt turn on CNN or C-SPAN to see debates… Its time to start thiking about our Country and where we are going ….. we are heading downward fast and then next president is going to need to pull us out of this and fast, if they fail at that. who the hell knows what will happen to this country.

Regardless of my feelings about Roseanne — she's right about everything she's posted on her blog. Barack has yet to talk about anything but "hope". He seems to have not have concrete plan for this country except a lot of smoke and mirrors. I would be interested to hear his plans, but he's avoided discussing them. It's sad to say that Barack is style over substance — all the way. And, I'm sick of Oprah — and not just because of Barack. Between Dr. Phil and Rachel Ray — Oprah has the worst judgement of anyone out there.

Hey, get over it, because she's RIGHT ON. She's totally correct that Obama is a traitor to the principles of the Democratic party and he would be a disastrous president. He's a corporate shill and he doesn't give a damn about the needs of the American people. Say on, Roseann!!

    Re: New York
Just because her show bears her name means shit, she still has a moral responsibility to the public to portray things accurately and not to skew things in the minds of people who obviously need her help in order to think for themselves, she knows what kind of power she has over these weak minded, uneducated mid western people and she is exploiting all of you suckers who are buying what she has to sell

    Hey Rosie!
    -
Maybe we should take a poll from the homeless people sleeping in the streets and shelters and see what they think about how the policians have been doing so far… hmmm? whad'da think? I wonder if they think we should continue with the "business as ususal" candidates?
    -
I wonder how long it took for the poor-to-middle-class people to become homeless people?

I'm going to agree with Roseanne she's not attacking she is speaking the truth. Back in the day a person wouldn't have flaunted who they were voting for and how much money they were throwing someones way instead a good, reputable talk show host would have allowed both to come on her show and speak out. At least Hillay didn't think she was to good to do the Tyra show and maybe she should go on Ellen thats who people want to see these days anyway.

Oprah is supposedly anti-feminist because she does not support Hill… give me a break. She is a powerful woman, but she is ALSO a powerful BLACK woman. By Rosanne's logic you could say that if she endorsed Hillary, as most celebrities have, you could then call her a racist for not supporting the FIRST BLACK candidate to EVER win a presidential primary.
What is wrong with speaking well of republicans? They are people and Americans too, even if we disagree on policy. I am ready for a leader who actually brings us together instead of tearing us apart…
And by the way, currently the most powerful woman in American politics since Eleanor Roosevelt is NANCY PELOSI… but thanks for playin…
