The "Reverend" Fred Phelps's Westboro Baptist Church announced plans to protest at the funeral of Heath Ledger.
Why?
The "God Hates Fags" hatemongers will picket the decease Aussie actor's funeral because he is a pervert who promoted homosexuality by appearing as a gay man in Brokeback Mountain.
We wish we could laugh at this stupidity, but it just makes us angry!
Heath may not have been perfect, but he doesn't deserve this.

Did you notice that this thread didn't have a single "first" post, and pretty much everyone here came in with fiery support for Heath. My faith in humanity is doing fine.
Ok Seriously: I come in for my daily fix and read everything w/o comment BUT this truly pissed me off–This man-father-son-friend to many just passed and this idiot is going to picket his funeral. How disgusting are these people to take advantage during such a tragic time. Heath's passing should make us ALL reflect on how precious and fragile life is and how every moment good or bad is a gift…I just don't understand how the people who claim to be the most "godly" can be the absolute cruelest…Sad. This m/f should choke on a dildo.
If you haven't checked out the "Rev's" website, it's quite (unintentionally) hilarious. It must take a lot of energy to be that angry all of the time!
Second, I think that this "church group" may picket any memorial service that is held in LA for Mr. Ledger… but I don't see them having the kind of money it would take to fly at last moment to Australia for his actual funeral. They are broke-ass crackers, afterall - and the Aussie gov't prolly would stop 'em at the airport.
It would be TOTALLY HILARIOUS if a group of dedicated GAY BIKERS kept this "church" at bay during Mr. Ledger's LA memorial service (much like the US Vet bikers do at the funerals of our fallen soldiers). That'd be real justice. And I'd like those gay bikers to be wearing assless chaps, thank you very much!
These CRAZIES picket lots of funerals - even those that have no connection to homosexuality to get a stage for their non-cause. They like to picket the funerals of servicemen and women killed in Iraq. There's a group of veterans who ride motorcycles to those funerals and outnumber the crazies and get in front of them and block them from sight. I seriously doubt they have the money to go to Australia. They are so stupid they probably didn't know he was Australian.
And these "people" probably think they're going to heaven. No one has any sense of humanity anymore. I hope the police arrest these homophobes if they do that.

They have a telephone number on their press release and contact info on their website where you can leave messages telling them how idiotic they are. I left them a pretty nice one a minute ago. I mean, times like these are sad enough without factoring in "religious" people who want every gay person to die. It makes me sick to my stomach.
I can't believe these people call themselves Christians. I am a Christian, and even though I believe being gay is wrong, we are supposed to show love to everyone, Jesus did that, the bible says Jesus came to save the world not to condem it. The Westboro Baptist church is the SAME church who recently protested at the front gate of Marine Corp. base Camp Lejeune,NC AS WELL AS protesting at several funerals of fallen soldiers. The Westboro baptist church,apparently, pickets any death that is receiving national attention. They are most well known for picketing soldier's funeral or memorial services. Through my research I have discovered that their group is very small and most of the attention they receive is from people expressing outrage at their vile message. If we don't talk about them they don't really get any attention. As infuriating as these idiots are it's best to not speak of them. Just take delight in the fact that the group is very, very small and they claim to hate EVERY ONE, the Catholic church, homosexuals, Ireland, America, Europe, etc.

Here's my thought… if Heath is flown back to Australia for his funeral, then this Phelps guy and his followers would have to go to Australia to picket. Couldn't the Australian government deny them visas to enter the country? I don't fly internationally much, but doesn't a country have the right to reject people at customs? If so, we need to write to the Prime Minister of Australia to make sure these hatemongers are not allowed in that country.

It’s called free speech and it sucks, but it’s what makes this country great. What I think would be totally amazing, if these people actually do go through with their protest is that all of Heath’s friends and fans would show up and outnumber these hate mongers. That would prove to those jerks as well as show Heath’s family how much he was loved and admired. Love will always overcome hate! We need to use our freedom of speech as well but in a way that will support and love Heath’s family through these unimaginably hard times.

I am not a christian myself but was raised as one and remember from all those hours of Sunday School that the main point of Christianity was FORGIVENESS AND LOVE. How can picketing someone's funeral even come close to being classed as this. I've actually been at a memorial service that Fred Phelps picketted (the Sago Miners Service was held at my college a few years ago), and it is fucking disgusting what him & his followers say & do. i'm from indiana, and a group similar to this one protested at military funerals in my home state. i'm glad to say that they're all but banned from doing that since the AG stepped in.
